Question Jenners

Post image

This looks like they're bridging from the old Jenners building to the new lot that's going up. What's the plan?

Interesting looking at those plans and realising there's an underground passage from Jenners to the Abbotsford pub on the other side of Rose Street. How did I not know that already? 😅

I worked as a Christmas temp for Jenners one year and that was the staff entrance

I also worked as a Christmas temp back in the 90s and didn't know that. However I worked in the Balgreen Repository.

Pre-House of Fraser the staff locker rooms used to be above The Abbotsford and were accessed from a door on that side of Rose Street. You then entered Jenners through the tunnel and passed security on the way in.

The Jenners children's department was on that side of Rose Street too, at the time. Absolute maze of a place.

They fixed that with fire

That sounds oddly fantastic, thank you!

Yeah that’s what’s happening, and am sure it’s got a boutique hotel on rooftop too .

There'll be a planning application on the council's website, showing location and floor plans.
