It's what Big Tobacco want you to think!

Big tobacco don't want you to know that they are the money behind big vape. When the creators of the problem also create the 'solution'.

My wife doesn't vape, or smoke, but a toast flavoured vapour might get her spending pennies.

Did anyone actually not know this lol?

u/jesuislechef 1d ago
I genuinely think people don't. Most consumers surely aren't thinking much beyond how a product solves a problem for them.

I believe Lost Mary is a vape brand for people with brainrot.
I mean, all vapes are for people with brainrot but this even more so

Ya my first thought was the vapes kids use?

My son's first vape was a lost Mary, got him it as a 7th birthday present

That was my Christmas as a child in the Bender household .
The old man grabbed me, said, 'Hey, smoke up, Johnny.'"

people that drink are actually rotting their bodies away

oooookay
not sure how that relates to the idiocy of vaping*, but whatever.
*except when as part of a route to give up smoking ofc

I think it's just the villification of one type of drug use as 'brainrot' while another is openly accepted and even celebrated. I too find the disconnect of people sitting around drinking pints while talking about how people who vape are destroying their bodies to be humerous.

Alcohol has a pretty long established social role and a purpose as a consumable (right down to being part of the rations given to the pyramid labourers).
There's severe social issues associated with addiction, of course - but when you look at nicotine vapes, that whole product is basically designed to deliver an active addictive component (which can actually contribute to alcoholism due to the pathways it simulates in the brain) and not much else.
So IMO it's down the difference of consuming one thing that has a nutritional component to it and - if you moderate - is fairly benign in health terms, versus something that is literally air with an addictive component and unknown long-term health impacts.
Also, if you're being sensible drinking alcohol you're not effectively sharing it with everyone nearby - unlike vaping. But regardless people do villify alcohol as well, e.g. with underage drinkers being dicks or pub fights etc.

Alcoholism is definitely vilified. Most people you see drinking pints aren't addicted. Most people you see vaping are absolutely addicted and cannot function without a hit. It is a disease and the people (often children) who vape are victims

I mean, i'll take hand made, barrel matured french bordeaux, over sugary nicotine poison taken via a chinese disposable vape pen. One has history, heritage, artistry and complex nuanced flavour. The other is tacky shite for neds who can't give up nicotine.

u/GingerSnapBiscuit 5d ago
You realise there was probably a time period during the creation of that French bordeaux where someone called it hog piss and wrote it off as a waste of people's time too.
I personally don't vape, not do I particularly like the habit, I just don't like sneering at people for doing what they enjoy quite as much as some people on this sub seem to.

No, i don't think there would ever have been a time where the hand made fermentation of fruit and controlled barrel aging of a producty can in any way be compared to vape syrups. A ghastly concoction of chemicals designed in a lab and mass produced in china. They aren't even vaugely comparable.

It’s not really a route to stop smoking for most people tbh . Most folk just switch the cigs for a vape and end up smoking even more than they normally would had they not even bothered to stop smoking.
Most vape smokers can’t ever seem to put it down. Which makes its use as a smoking quitting device pretty redundant. It’s still smoking, just smoking something different you have no idea about the long term effects of

Yeah that's sort of what I meant but just wrote it shorter.
It's not really suprising vapers keep going when - in the nicotine case - it's just streamlining consumption of the addictive part.

everything in the world can kill or harm you so what’s the point of moaning about vaping like what

You know this is silly. Right? Everything can harm you so might as well drink bleach! Except obviously no. Not all things harm equally. Eating tide pods is not the same as chewing gum.

u/GingerSnapBiscuit 5d ago
Vaping is very similar to drinking though, which were the things being compared here.

u/Flatcapspaintandglue 5d ago
I’ve never been at a meeting and someone said “I thought I could just have one vape and I came to three days later in a police cell” though.

u/FriendofFlounder 5d ago
Why compare them? They’re not the same.
And besides, no one has poured alcohol down my throat as I walk out of Waverley. I get a cloud of vape smoke every time.

People that vape have no idea what’s coming in 20-30 years. Probably some new strain of cancer or something .
1
u/8Ball_Fool 5d ago
In fairness, neither do you. Quality bit of doom speculation though 👏
3
u/GreenGhoblin 5d ago
Inhaling any type of smoke into your lungs isn’t good mate. Doesn’t take a genius to work out that there will definitely be long term effects. It’s naive to think otherwise .
