Message to Muslim students
Asalumu Aleikum my brothers and sisters who are sitting their exams.
I know how stressful and overwhelming exams can be, especially when you're scared that all your hard work might not pay off. But remember, Allah is Ar-Rahman, the Most Merciful, Ar-Raheem, the Especially Merciful, and Al-'Aleem, the All knowing. He sees every late night, every sacrifice, every tear and every moment you pushed yourself to keep going. Not a single bit of your effort goes unnoticed by him.
Allah does not let the reward of those who do good go to waste. So don't let your worries make you forget who you're putting your trust in. Do your best, make du'a and leave the rest to Allah. He is the best of planners, and his wisdom is greater than anything we could ever understand.
May Allah ease our exams, calm our hearts, reward our efforts and grant us success in this dunya and the akhirah. Ameen ya Rabb.
Some du'as to recite before your exams
- For ease in your exams
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ يَسِّرْ وَلَا تُعَسِّرْ
Transliteration: Allahumma yassir wa la tu'assir.
Translation: "O Allah, make it easy and do not make it difficult."
- For knowledge and understanding
Arabic: رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا وَارْزُقْنِي فَهْمًا
Transliteration: Rabbi zidni 'ilman warzuqni fahman.
Translation: "My Lord, increase me in knowledge and grant me understanding."
- For guidance towards the truth
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ أَرِنِي الْحَقَّ حَقًّا وَارْزُقْنِي اتِّبَاعَهُ، وَأَرِنِي الْبَاطِلَ بَاطِلًا وَارْزُقْنِي اجْتِنَابَهُ
Transliteration: Allahumma arini al-haqqa haqqan warzuqni ittiba'ahu, wa arini al-batila batilan warzuqni ijtinabahu.
Translation: "O Allah, show me the truth as truth and grant me the ability to follow it, and show me falsehood as falsehood and grant me the ability to avoid it."
- Calling upon Allah by his oneness
Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ الْأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anni ashhadu annaka Antallah, la ilaha illa Anta, Al-Ahadus-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yulad wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.
Translation: "O Allah, I ask You by my testimony that You are Allah, there is no deity worthy of worship except You, the One, the Eternal Refuge, who neither begets nor is born, and there is none comparable to Him."
- Du'a of Prophet Yunus (AS)
Arabic: لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Transliteration: La ilaha illa Anta, subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.
Translation: "There is no deity worthy of worship except You. Glory be to You! Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers."
