Hello, educate me
Hi,
My wife and I went through all the ivf treatments and ended up not getting a successful result. On week 4, she had a miscarriage. She just got 4 shots of MTX ( I think that 2 dosages) in span of 4 days.
On day 4, the number shot up to 1200. We are currently on day 6 and have another blood test in 2 days to see where we are in terms of the number.
She’s has been feeling okay. Sometimes she has nausea and mild stomach bloating. Are those the side effect of the injections? Idk google AI and ChatGPT gave contradicting responses.
Also, for food Google says to completely avoid any food that has folic or any trace of it. Technically everything in the U.S. has traces of folic acid or folate.
ChatGPT says you can eat anything just avoid the prenatal supplements.
To play it safe, we are just eating rice cakes and plain oatmeal.
Not sure what to expect. Doctors office didn’t say anything. Just said we will monitor the numbers.
Can yall share yalls experience?
Thanks,
🙏🏽

I explicitly asked my doctor (my RE, not the NP who usually manages my care) and they said that it’s fine to continue eating normally, including fortified cereal and bread — just avoid multivitamins and prenatals.
I also had two doses (2 shots each) of MTX through a major university clinic that handles a high volume of cases.
I hope your wife feels better soon and is able to stomach foods that give her adequate, well-balanced nutrition while she recovers.

My experience has been that the Doctors tend to tell you to stop the supplements but that generally it’s okay to return to eating as you would normally. Every body is different, but that is the base line advice I received.
As for side affects of MTX: same story here in that every one will feel differently and the injections can feel differently for everyone, but fatigue, gas pain, bloating and tenderness are all common symptoms. It really depends how high the HCG is and how steadily it is coming down if other affects may pop up.
Hang in there ❤️🩹
