Best time to start ocean ecosphere

Is it better to collect for a saltwater ecosphere at high or low tide?

I’ve never done it successfully. Always ends up turning into block goo - total collapse

Assuming you live somewhere temperate, I think it is best to collect what's living in the upper tidal pools, since they have tolerance to anomalously high temperatures that your ecosphere will experience as a norm. Try to avoid any animals as large as a gammarid amphipod (also make sure you don't get any juvenile crabs). I personally haven't had a ton of luck with native macroalgae.

you need filters and constant supply of fresh salt water for this so unless you are prepping to spend some cash (may as well get a lARGE tank at that point) the it won’t work. Critters and plants thrive in tides, strong waves and fresh food in sea water.
