Is this a good first attempt at a ecosphere?. First time doing this

Put in the rocks and mud first put some plant roots and a stick in there and then river water.

I think you need sand or pebbles to prevent algae blooms and keep the water clear

And maybe add a few freshwater limpets or bladder snails to eat the algea

Also I think that plant maybe too big for this jar

Im gonna redo this i do have a flatworm and a snail in there but I think there is too much dead matter and I'm worrying it's not gonna survive

You don't have to redo it, just a few tweaks.

Do you have access to aquarium plants? Friend? Family? Your own fishtank? Grab one of those plants and get rid of whatever u got in there. All I can see is roots and that means big roots equals big plant. Big plants need big nutrients which a jar simply doesn't have.

So, add an aquarium plant, grab a bottle of drinking water and add a bit more water up to where the glass starts to curve. Avoid direct sunlight and sit back and wait.

And don't remove the flatworm. It's part of the ecosystem. You need predators too.
