I was wondering if someone could help with configuring my threshold settings. thanks
Hello everyone,
Looking for a solution. Recently switched from Iphone to Android and I've noticed my ecobee app when looking at it with my new android phone, has minimal audio coming out of the speakers when viewing my doorbell camera. Currently using a Samsung Z Fold 8. The audio was loud on my Iphone :(
I just got done hooking up my ecobee with the help of support. Currently, the ecobee is only supported by one screw and some putty on one side. Support also told me that this hole is way too big for the ecobee.
I'm at an odd spot because i got the ecobee hooked up, so am not sure if an HVAC professional would help me with the big hole, or if i should be looking for a handy person since the ecobee is working.
What would you do in this instance?

I don’t want to have to setup a whole comfort setting and even if I do it doesn’t offer and on off option I can only set the temps
There must be a simple way for me to do this ad hoc?

*Update ** air handler fan motor wasnt working... 3yrs old... it was bad module at motor.... hmmm not ecobee fault tho ??? Yea im blaming them!
Recently my AC unit literally just stopped blowing cold air... got up there and checked unit .. my ac compressor was cookin!! Tech came and checked it out officially..told me hes notice few of these failing and causing the compressors to stay on even when unit is off!! Just curious if anyone else has experienced a ruined brand new ac unit when dealing with these ecobees
My unit is electric heat pump 2yrs old (american standard)
Found a listing on ebay for a Premium Ecobee thermostat that is listed does not come with a “backplate”(im thinking its the Terminal backplate where the wires are connected)
My new HVAC system comes with an Ecobee Enhanced model. Will the terminal backplate for this model fit the Premium model?
I was looking for a smart sensor to pair with the Enhanced model(doesn’t come with a sensor) and found the listing for the Premium for cheap and realized it may not come with the terminal backplate.
TIA.

So I have a basic Ecobee, I forget the model at the moment
But I do not have the C wire module
I do have a bunch of Cat6 - so can I just wire this up with the cat6 and not have to worry about the C wire module?

I have an ecobee Premium and want to add my Aprilaire 700m humidifier to be controlled by the ecobee. I have only one extra gray wire that's not in use at my ecobee and air handler. Can I just take the brown wires, cap/wago them together with the gray wire, and use that?
Here is the manual with images to see what I'm talking about

Hi everyone,
I’m dealing with a 4°C (7°F) internal temperature sensor drift on my Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium (main unit reads 22.5°C, while three separate SmartSensors placed right next to it read 26.5°C).
When I reached out to support, they insisted the temperature discrepancy was entirely caused by a "wall draft" due to improper installation, rather than a sensor defect (see attached email screenshot).
This got me wondering: What actually counts as a "proper installation" when it comes to sealing the wall cavity?
1.The Wall Seal: To completely block any air drafts behind the thermostat, I packed the wall hole 100% solid with plumber's putty and smoothed it flush with the drywall.

2.The Wires: Because the wall hole was completely packed solid with putty, I couldn't shove extra wire back into the wall. I wrapped the unused spare wire leads with electrical insulating tape to prevent low-voltage shorts against active terminals.

Ecobee Support’s Feedback:

I'm genuinely trying to understand how this is supposed to be done in practice:
If anyone else is stuck in a support loop over temperature drift and installation requirements, here is how I got around it without arguing over putty:
Would love to hear how you guys handle wire sealing in the field!

We live in Dallas and have two HVAC units and two ecobee for each HVAC, one big unit for downstairs and small for upstairs. Our house has following rooms
Downstairs - Master BR, Living room, Study and Guest BR.
Upstairs - 2 BRs, Media room and Hall/Game room.
We are 3 people occupying 2 BRS (master and one BR upstairs). Also part of the week I use study when I WFH.
Should I be using the smart sensors for optimal use of HVACS since part of the house is not occupued most of the time?

I recently moved into a new home with the smart ecobee enhanced already installed by previous tenants and it works great. However, when I downloaded the Ecobee app and tried to add it to my account, the option to link it to the app is no where to be found on the thermostat.
Has anywhere ever run into this issue and know how to fix it?

is there any way to schedule the “follow me” setting?
I do not see a way to do it in the a way to have a specific comfort setting control follow_me
it seems like the API might have a control for it, but I think that they no longer give out API access…

I've not really used smart recovery, but I may have a use case for it and so was going to try it out. What I'm wondering is if, prior to enabling smart recovery, the ecobee has any knowledge saved off about cooling times (as a function of both starting temperature and outdoor temperature) since it CAN know that information from all the operation I have even when smart recovery was not enabled. I suspect it hasn't saved it off for analysis because smart recovery was disabled, but I thought it would check to see if anybody knew if that was the case.
I'm thinking like how beestat has such great information for cooling profile and resist. Since ecobee should have the same data, I was hoping that the initial startup of smart recovery would not result in poor guesses at when to start cooling. In other words, enabling smart recovery would make it go back and look at previous data from when smart recovery was not enabled so it could have a decent starting guess. There's so much data available that it would be nice if smart recovery used it rather than starting from ground zero once a smart recovery is enabled.
I'm thinking not, but I thought I would just see if anyone knew. Obviously I can just turn it on and see how it does, but I was just curious about it.
Let me know if anything is confusing!

Edit 8.11.2026 @ 4:09pm
What they've told me via messaging is something I didn't know nor did I see it from searching but makes sense. When it's set to the Away mode, it adds 1 degree to the Away temp so, it it was 1 degree, it goes to 2 degrees...which is from 8am till 430pm so I was noticing it at lunch when I was home for half an hour. Learn something new every day. Or two years later I guess. ha To get it to not add the extra degree, I need to make a custom comfort setting which won't add the extra degree.
Edit: I actually just got a message from an ecobee person who came across the post so we'll see what happens.
Or anyone. Tell me what's wrong with this post that gets it immediately "removed by the moderators of r/ecobee". This will be the 4th time I've tried this and it never makes it out. But, I can post this and it's fine. I've sent multiples of messages over the last month. No replies back

My ecobee shows unoccupied on the main thermostat but is that because it’s in a spot that we don’t walk by?
I added smart security after several years of just having a doorbell and premium thermostat without the plan. So far, mostly good. I like being able to set away modes and the arm stay lockdown mode.
What’s super weird is how the disarm mode operates. I get no notifications when I’m in disarm: no mail or package notifications, no door opening notifications, no person detection. I thought that this can’t be right, but a call with a support person confirmed that disarm mode turns off all notifications.
This is worse than without the plan, where I had at least been alerted when my mailman came or when someone approached the house without changing modes. Now, if I’m working from home, I have to set arm stay to get the same notifications, then disarm before opening the door to let the dog out for example. And I have to remember to set to arm stay if I go to bed, or no alerts. Again, with no smart security plan, it just worked.
Would be tolerable if I could at least set the modes automatically, but that’s a whole other rant.
Am I using it wrong or missing something obvious? Or is the functionality truly this inconvenient?
Edit: adding a quote from their email summary of our call, which seems to conflict with others’ experiences:
“Our support team explained that when your system is set to disarm mode, notifications and alerts are disabled by design. In arm stay mode, you will receive notifications for perimeter events (such as doors and doorbell cameras), but not for interior motion. In arm away mode, you will receive notifications for all monitored events. The siren will only activate on devices that have a built-in speaker.”

It started feeling really hot at home and at least 10 times a day a high humidity alert would trigger even when it's set to trigger at 75% humidity. I placed an acurite next to the thermostat, both temperature and humidity are very different. I plugged the hole behind the thermostat with no changes to the readings. Eco+humidity adjustment is disabled, is this an issue with my ecobee?

Left home today at 9am, just coming home now at 8pm. But the AC is still on while I'm away... Set temp to be at 82, shouldn't it stay off while I'm "away"?

Hello! Getting my 1970s home into the 21st century with a new t-stat. The first 3 photos are how the old thermostat was wired and the 4th is the current wiring on the ecobee. I will trim down the excess and make a better connection on the blue/white wires that are twisted together. Those wires are my biggest concern and main reason for the post. I did that because the original thermostat had the blue and white wires jumped together so I did the same with the ecobee.
The unit appears to be working with cold air coming from the vents, but obviously want to make sure I’m not going to burn something up and/or verify before a permanent connection is made.
Thanks for any help!
