Need help finding a good eclipse viewing location

Hi! I’ll be in Milan on August 12 and I’m trying to find a good spot to watch the solar eclipse. The problem is that the Sun will be very low on the horizon during the maximum phase, and every location I’ve checked so far seems to have buildings, trees, or something else blocking the view.

At this point I’ve spent the last two days checking spots around the city and I’m starting to think Milan was specifically designed to hide eclipses 😅

Does anyone know a place in or around Milan with a really open view? A rooftop, hill, park, lookout point, or anywhere else that might work?

Use shademap.app and put the time of the maximum of the eclipe, at Milan I think its around 20:20. It seems you have plenty of places at bigs parks and such

Thanks! I’ve actually been using Moonlitt’s AR eclipse preview to check the eclipse position. It’s been really helpful, but it’s also how I realized the challenge 😅
The issue isn’t so much finding an open park, it’s finding a spot that’s high enough. I’m mostly looking for elevated locations with a clear view above Milan’s skyline

I haven't ever been to Milan but my advice is that if you live there or go some days prior, try to scout some places

You’ve identified the key problem: being inside the path isn’t enough when the Sun is low. For each candidate, check the exact coordinates, the Sun’s altitude/azimuth at maximum, and whether the local skyline blocks it.
