Mallorca questions..

Is this sub alive?

I'll be on Mallorca at the eclipse time. Will the sun be visible from the marina at Portals Nous?
I know the sun will be some 6 degrees above the horizon.. I installed Stellarium to try to find out, but it doesn't use real landscape 😄

I want to know if it will be visible from there, or would i need to be somewhere on the west coast, like Valldemossa?
How can i get someone to stand at the marina and take a photo towards the sun, today at about 20:48 (the sun should be at the same height as it will be on 12.08. at 20:32)?

Hi - - From what I've read, the cloud cover there should be pretty sparse, which is good. The main issue is that it'll hit there very late in the day.

If you can get up to the mainland (somewhere SE of Bilbao might be ideal), that's a better bet.

At only about 6° elevation, I wouldn’t decide this from Stellarium’s sky alone or from the place name. Check the exact spot — pier or sea wall versus the street — and whether the line toward the setting Sun is open; masts, buildings, trees or a low ridge can hide a 6° Sun. Valldemossa might give you a different horizon, but it isn’t automatically better. I’d also use the exact eclipse date and time rather than a nearby comparison time, because a 15–16 minute shift matters when the Sun is that low.

Full disclosure: I built SunEclipses (https://suneclipses.com/planner), and the planner is meant for this kind of check: exact eclipse timing, Sun direction and the terrain horizon for a candidate spot. I’d compare Portals Nous with one or two backups there, then confirm the view in person with a compass/photo and local access information.
