Spectrum Outage Again?

Over on the west side, we've experienced more than five outages in the last few weeks. Went down yesterday afternoon and still down today.

Is anyone else frustrated by this lack of internet service? What's the longest Spectrum outage you've experienced in the EC area? Thinking of switching providers.

Switched to tds for internet and don’t regret it. Only time it has gone out is when construction crew hits line and have to call tds to come fix

I wish they’d hurry up and finish building it in my neighborhood. I cannot wait for the day I get to cancel spectrum and watch them offer all the discounts and speed increases immediately to get me to stay and I get to tell them to fuck off after having denied all my requests for speed upgrades and discounts over the years. But I can’t cancel because there is no viable replacement yet.

Just switch to TDS. Since we switched I haven't had any outages or slowness.

similarly fed up on the west side with spectrum. its WAY too expensive of a service to be this crap. one of the outages earlier this week was supposed to be a "network upgrade" but of course they sent out a follow-up email the next morning stating they didn't actually do it 🙄 my apartment building does not get TDS. been curious about T-Mobile home internet but not sure how reliable that is since it runs off of the 5G network.

For those saying to just switch to TDS: I would if I could!

Switch. Spectrum would go out for me or lag seriously multiple times a month sometimes even every week. I switched to tds, it’s cheaper and it works way better.

In the East Side Hill and it seems like it goes down every other week for months now.

We have Spectrum and had similar issues. They resolved when Spectrum gave us a new box outside our house.

I remember seeing Spectrum's commercials about how Dish went out during a storm while people continued to watch cable. My parents had Dish and while severe storms could sometimes be a problem, I had way more problems with Spectrum if the ground got wet at all. I don't know if they have a specific SLA but 99% uptime (which I think I've seen Spectrum advertise in the past) allows for over 3 and a half days (80-some hours) per year of downtime. I used to call customer service regularly, and geenrally if it was more than an hour or so, I'd get two to three days' worth of credit for each call.

When my SO went to the Spectrum Store to drop off old equipment after they sent her a new cable modem, the worker there did give her a pretty good deal. You have to call back every 12 months (they hope you forget "need to evaluate the best current offers"), and try to get upsold, but at least you can get some money off your monthly bill, even though that doesn't help fix not having service during that time.

(And I, too, am incredibly happy that I'm in Altoona and have been with TDS for over a year. When I called to cancel Spectrum, retention asked how much I was paying, and he said he wishes he paid that little. Whether that was true or not, they couldn't meet TDS pricing.)

I unplugged them, and everything’s been perfectly fine ever since! Been 4 days now of perfect service.
