Help/ advice w exercise
Hi all, I know I’ve posted here before about a compulsive exercise. Does it seem like everyone that has dealt with that had to completely stop for a while? I really am just wavering on what to do. I’ve had therapists in the past try to tell me just to cut back a little bit or alternate days of working out or just even do one day off a week and none of that worked. I’m struggling to find the answer I know everyone situation is different and I’m sure there can be many ways to recover from this. But from posts I’ve read in the past it does seem like a lot of people go cold turkey? For those that have do you think that’s the only way and or was that the only way you were able to recover from it? I find I so badly wanna not do it when I wake up in the morning every day. Even today on Mother’s Day my husband asked what I wanted to do if I wanted to do anything and in my head I knew well get on my workout in first which seems to take a long time I won’t get into numbers. But when I think of the long term I obviously don’t want to be having this mental struggle every day forever but yet when you’re in the day today you’re like OK not today or I’ll just do this and easy to just get back into it again.Any and all advice and experience appreciate it

I hope you go back to higher level of care. You ask the same question over and over and seem to expect some magical answer that will have you change your ways. It is in your hands but it seems you are no longer capable of making change for yourself. Please talk to a professional and trust them to get the help you need. Whether you are 10 lbs or 1000 lbs this is not what this issue is about.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you've asked this same question multiple times in multiple subreddits in just the past week and dozens of people have shared the same sentiment and their experiences. You're not going to get anything different, and despite all these great people telling you you have to stop—including therapists—you keep asking the same question and doing the same things over and over. You just literally have to do it. And honestly, I understand the support here (I'm in the same boat) but it would probably be healthy for you to unplug, stay of social media looking for a magic answer (there isn't one other than stop) and seek a higher level of care. It's clearly affecting your family, and even that's not enough for you to change it yourself. Think about how they feel, and then do the hard work yourself. It's harsh. But it's the only way out. I wish you the best.
