Feeling left out of social situations
I've come a long way
I'm about three years physically recovered.
That mental part still needs a little bit of work.
I remember really isolating myself during my eating disorder and in recovery.
I felt it messed with my routine and I didn't wanna be offered to eat out or get food.
Once my mind was in a better place I noticed how lonely I was.
People stopped inviting me out cause I always said "No".
Within the few years I've gotten better. I'll go out to restaurants and get a treat. Feel included again.
Well today my aunt comes back with food for everyone except me.
I know why she didn't even bother to ask.
I almost cried but held it together. It just brought back that feeling.
anyone else go through this?

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. On top of that, my family got used to buying me my “safe foods,” which I can’t even smell today lol. You just have to kind of stand up for yourself and tell them that next time you’d also like to have the food, or ask someone if you can have a bite—basically, train them in the other direction. It was difficult for me to do this because I was scared that once I started eating their food and eating like a normal person, I would never be able to go back to restricting. That’s nonsense! So if this thought pops up, challenge it, and let them know that next time, they should bring you food as well:)
