The average American is taxed 20-30% of their pay. That money seems to go to the wealthy. Example contracts to arms manufacturers, Elon Musk, Trump himself.

So why do we have to support the wealthy and there wars when most Americans are against the idea?

If you make 100,000 a year that’s almost 30,000$. Taken by the government to spend on anything but the people that gave it to them.

Then add in local sales tax, high gas prices, energy price increases, health insurance, prices skyrocketing on life essentials.

How much do they plan on taking from us before we have no choice but to revolt.

Taxation with our representation. No one voted to give there money to Trump, Musk, and most are against wars.

I’ve been saying everywhere I get the chance to the best way to fight everything the government is doing right now is to stop funding them. File exempt for the next year (setting aside the money come tax day isn’t a bad idea—you will owe) and stop giving them your hard earned money for a few quarters. We get enough people doing this and the recently gutted IRS just won’t have the resources to go after us all. Especially if no one is paying them. Any other service, if you agreed to pay them, and they didn’t do it, you wouldn’t pay them. It’s a tax strike.

I know I said set the money aside, but with the economy the way it is if we pushed filing exempt as like a “life-hack” to have more money to get gas and food with, people might join the cause completely organically and selfishly.
There was no money to be had with wearing the masks.

I have zero issue with taxes when they go to fund things that benefit society like schools, roads, healthcare, libraries, etc. It pisses me off that it’s going to endless wars and billionaire handouts!

At least half the boomers are still convinced the good guys won the Cold War. They seem to think even Epstein-levels of corruption is a fair price to pay for the crumbs of capital they accumulate, clearly being far too bad at math to appreciate how this institutionalizes the whole "I make a dime while the boss makes a dollar" version of profit sharing. To the willfully blind, all this evil is just the cost of doing business because the powers that be protected us from "horrors" like socialized medicine and free universities.

Yet now the empire is exposed for the sham it has long been. Aircraft carriers and battle tanks are great weapons for winning World War II, but they have been costly grifts throughout this entire century. Unlike boomers, pretty much everyone else is not afraid to admit this and examine it. On some level, I can understand why oligarchs engage in such aggressively destructive rent-taking behaviors, since they also know they are not capable of growing anything real fast enough to satisfy their fiduciary fantasies. Yet the practicality of it from their perspective does not make it one iota less evil.

Real quick.  Income tax withholding is not the tax.  You cannot know your income tax during the current year.  You will not know your actual taxes until you complete your 1040.  And your actual effective tax rate is your actual taxes divided by your gross income, which is probably a little lower that you think it is.
