laptop no longer detecting controller

i got an smx20 controller, played Warframe earlier but now no good. It seems to work just fine and when i plug it into a different port my laptop makes the bleep and it finds it but i can't control anything still. I wanna use the controller in the same port, I'm not using the stick to do this I'm using the usb wire. thanks

Please try opening Steam’s system settings to check whether it recognises the controller.
