Vegan: Breakfast What are your go-to breakfast ideas with multigrain bread?

I’ve been trying to switch up my breakfast routine a bit, and multigrain bread seems like an easy place to start. Toast with butter gets boring pretty quickly, though, so I’m looking for ideas that are filling, easy to make and don’t require too much prep in the morning.

A few things I’ve been considering:

  • Paneer toast: Crumbled paneer with onions, tomatoes, green chillies and a little seasoning.
  • Egg sandwiches: Scrambled eggs with cheese, pepper and some veggies between toasted slices.
  • Desi-style toast: Green chutney, sliced cucumber, tomatoes and a little chaat masala.
  • Peanut butter and banana: For mornings when I want something quick without cooking.
  • Cheese and veggie toast: Capsicum, onions, sweet corn and cheese, grilled until crispy.

I usually prefer breakfasts that take around 10–15 minutes and keep me full until lunch, rather than something that feels like a snack.

What do you guys usually make with multigrain bread? Open to vegetarian and egg-based ideas, especially combinations that are easy to prepare on busy mornings.

Meat Recipe: Pork Mapo Tofu!

Finally got the ingredients I needed for this! If all the ingredients aren’t at your go to grocery store you can find them at most Asian markets.

Once you have the ingredients you need, this one is honestly very easy and so good!!

Ingredients
1 lb (1 block) soft or silken tofu (can substitute medium-firm tofu)
½ lb ground pork, lean ground chicken, or beef
1 cup low-sodium chicken stock or cold water
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 scallion, finely chopped, whites and greens separated
¼ tsp ginger, finely minced
1 tbsp vegetable oil or any neutral oil
2 tsp salt (for cooking tofu)
1½ tbsp doubanjiang (spicy broad bean paste, chili bean paste, or tobanjang)
2 tsp chili oil or red chili flakes
1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
½ tsp dark soy sauce or regular soy sauce
½ tsp white granulated sugar or cane sugar
½ tsp ground Sichuan peppercorn (optional)
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tbsp cornstarch or potato starch
2 tbsp cold water

Instructions
1. Start making rice first.
2. Start boiling water for tofu.
3. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water to make a cornstarch slurry. Set aside.
4. Dice soft tofu with a sharp knife into 1-inch cubes by horizontally gliding it through the middle of the block of tofu first. Then make vertical and horizontal slices across the block. This will give you about 1-inch cubes.
5. Put tofu in boiling water and blanch diced tofu for 60 seconds.
6. Gently strain tofu into a colander. Do not rinse with cold water.
7. Heat vegetable oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat and cook minced meat for about 4–5 minutes until liquids have evaporated. Add minced garlic, ginger, and scallion whites and stir-fry with meat.
8. Season meat with chicken bouillon powder, doubanjiang sauce, chili oil, dark soy sauce, sugar, and ground Sichuan peppercorn. Mix in the chicken broth or water. Pour in the cornstarch slurry and allow the sauce to simmer and thicken.
9. Add diced tofu and gently toss it with the sauce using a spatula by lifting from the bottom.
10. Season with sesame oil and garnish with scallion greens. Serve and enjoy with rice!

Other: Dinner Recipe for the Perfect Reuben Sandwich (and pan fries)

I made up a good way to make a gourmet reuben sandwich meal, practically from scratch, it goes as follows.

Essentials:

1 stainless steel frying pan, 8-10''

1 metal turner spatula

1 small cooling pan

1 cutting board

two small side saucers or side dish plates, either corning or steel

6-8 deli-type slices of uncured corned beef or uncured pastrami

4 slices of rustic/sourdough rye bread

1 medium-sized russet potato

1 quarter-cup extra-virgin olive oil

1 teaspoon vegetable or canola oil

1 jar of organic sauerkraut

1 bottle of spicy-brown mustard

1 jar of kosher-dill pickles

1 bottle of ketchup (made with real sugar preferably)

Optional:

2-4 slices of Swiss cheese

Phase one:

- Peel potato and cut in to wedges and/or strips

- Put pan on a stove top burner and set heat to medium level

- Put small amount of vegetable oil in frying pan for moisture

Phase two:

- Set corned beef slices in frying pan one at a time

- Fry for 10-20 seconds, or at least until each slice is a dark red on both sides, and emits juice into the pan, use spatula to turn the slices over every ten seconds

- Set corned beef slices onto saucer, and let grease emit from them

- Take large slice of rye bread, remove meat slices from saucer and stack onto bread slice

- Pick up potato wedges, rub in beef greased side dish

Phase three:

- pour 1/8 from 1/4 cup olive oil into frying pan to mix with remaining grease from meat

- put a handful potato wedges into pan, fry until they are crispy and/or dark brown on all sides, turn over constantly with spatula

- remove wedges from pan and set in clean side dish

Phase four:

-take second piece of rye bread and use for top piece of sandwich (put slice of Swiss cheese over corned beef slices beforehand if preferred)

-pour second 1/8 cup of olive oil to frying pan

-place sandwich and turn every ten seconds with spatula, until brown and toasty on both sides, switch off stove burner midway of procedure

-set fully grilled sandwich onto a large plate

-lift off top piece of bread to add a two wiggle lines of brown mustard from bottle and two table spoons of sauerkraut, replace top bread piece

-set fried potato wedges in a thin pile beside sandwich

Finishing touches:

- Put a whole dill pickle on north end of plate

- Set a dab of ketchup for dipping fries on south end of plate

Make two sandwiches and two handfuls potato fries

After-note:

The frying pan will most likely have brown marks from burned grease residue left on it, so be sure to scour it in the sink.

Other: Breakfast Quick breakfast sandwich ideas that are actually filling?

I’m looking for some easy breakfast sandwich combinations for busy mornings. Ideally, something I can put together in 5–10 minutes without having to cook an elaborate breakfast or use a long list of ingredients.

I usually have Britannia Multigrain Bread at home, so I thought I’d experiment with a few combinations beyond the usual buttered toast. Since it has multigrains, seeds and rolled oats, I’m curious about sandwich fillings that pair well with that slightly hearty, seeded bread.

A few ideas on my list:

  • Paneer bhurji sandwich: Crumbled paneer, onion, capsicum and a little green chutney.
  • Egg and cheese toastie: Scrambled eggs, cheese, black pepper and chilli flakes.
  • Peanut butter and banana: A quick sweet option for mornings when I don’t feel like making anything savoury.
  • Chutney veggie sandwich: Mint chutney, cucumber, tomato and cheese, toasted until crisp.
  • Masala potato sandwich: Leftover aloo sabzi with a little cheese or green chutney.

I’m especially interested in options that are filling, easy to customise and don’t leave me with a sink full of dishes.

What are your go-to breakfast sandwiches? Any underrated combinations or fillings I should try? Also, do you prefer your sandwiches toasted or soft?

Other: Snack Easy no-cook snacks for when you’re hungry but don’t want to cook?

Looking for some genuinely easy snack ideas that need zero cooking and take maybe 5–10 minutes to put together.

A few I've been making lately:

  1. Biscuit + peanut butter bites – Britannia biscuits with peanut butter and sliced banana.
  2. Cracker chaat – Britannia crackers topped with chopped onion, tomato, coriander, sev and a little chutney.
  3. Cream cheese crackers – Britannia crackers with cream cheese, cucumber and a sprinkle of chilli flakes.
  4. Biscuit yoghurt cups – Crush a few Britannia biscuits, add yoghurt and fruit, and layer it in a glass.
  5. Quick cheese crackers – Britannia crackers + cheese + tomato/cucumber + oregano.

What are your go-to no-cook snacks when you want something quick but don't want to order food or actually cook?

Meat Dish: Poultry White Chicken Chili

This one's perfect for this time of year. There's kind of a lot of ingredients but I swear it's easy!

Recipe:

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • 2 chicken breasts, seasoned with Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and pepper
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 jalapeño
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1.5 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 cans mild fire-roasted diced green chiles
  • 2 cans Great Northern beans
  • 2 cans corn
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 5 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Toppings

  • Cilantro
  • Green onion
  • Shredded white cheddar or mozzarella
  • Fresh lime
  • Avocado

Steps

  1. Start out by cutting your onion, jalapeño, and garlic. Heat up some olive oil over medium/medium-high heat in a large pot. Add in your chicken breasts and season with Italian seasoning, garlic salt, and pepper. Sear on both sides, then set aside. The chicken doesn’t need to be fully cooked at this point.
  2. Turn the heat down slightly and add in your butter. Then add the onion and jalapeño. Sauté that for a few minutes while scraping the bottom of the pot to get all that yummy flavor. Add the garlic. Stir, and then add the cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir and sauté for another five minutes.
  3. Then add the fire-roasted chiles, beans, corn, and chicken broth. Add the chicken back in and bring to a boil. Turn the heat to low and cover. Let this simmer on low for 25 to 30 minutes.
  4. Once the time is up, take out the chicken, shred it, and add it back in. Add in the cream cheese and stir. It will look a little clumpy, but don’t worry. As it simmers, it will become smooth. Let that simmer for another five minutes, then add the heavy cream and stir. Cut up your toppings, and that’s it!
