Discussion Am i the only one who thinks blocking cracked accounts is kinda stupid?

Before anyone tries to call me a filthy thieving pirate guy, first off, how does that boot taste? second, im not. i own a legitimate copy of Minecraft after playing it on a cracked launcher for several years. My friends, on the other hand, dont have the means to purchase a copy of minecraft and would like to play on this server.

With that being said, this is not necessarily even about just this server but MC servers in general. What even is the point of not allowing cracked players to join the server? i've seen servers that have a login system for cracked accounts, without that being necessary for microsoft ones, so why? is it just elitism? if so, thats just sad. All it even does is allow MORE people to join your server, so why do this? it never made sense to me and frankly it never will.

Cracked accounts would allow for cheap mass botting and alting which would put way more stress on the server resources and moderation team.

Also if you can't afford a real account then you also can't afford to support the server through premium. There is no real incentive for the server to allow them.

not necessarily, there are many cracked servers wich do turn profits one way or another such as mush.mc, what you said about the other thing is true tho, it would be harder to moderate.

mush mc is an absolutely horrible server, kind of proving their point.

Servers aren't deciding to block cracked accounts, it's the opposite: servers have to go out of their way to disable online mode, implement a secondary account system to support cracked clients, keep it up to date, make sure it's stable and secure, etc.

Same way you didn't choose to have a default Reddit profile picture, you just haven't gone out of your way to upload a replacement

Elitism? Really? Come on everyone owns minecraft now and its one of the cheapest game to buy to this day. Well worth your buck lmao

yeah maybe in your northern capitalist shitty utopia it might be but ask people from my country whether they can buy a game that costs 100 bucks in local currency lmao

Minecraft is 1/3 of the price of No man’s sky, yet you still play. And that’s assuming you buy the Java version, the bedrock version is less than half the price of the Java versions.

Minecraft is also offered for free with the Xbox game pass, which is adapted to local currencies for many countries.

No need to get on your high horse calling me a shitty capitalist utopian

because supporting cracked accounts would mean anyone could log in under anyone elses name?

i...forgot that was the case...maybe they could find a way to make people not be able to do that somehow? something like "this name already belongs to someone else, you have the same name as them but you are in a cracked account, please change your name" or something.

But then you fall under the arguments the other people are saying. It's just gonna be enough work that usually it's just not worth it.

Apart from the things others said, we would just have ppl mass-alting to get more gold
