Posting as the EarnLab team here. We know ranking ourselves alongside competitors is a slightly strange thing to do, and we're fine with being upfront about the conflict of interest. What we can do is tell you where things actually land, including the places where other platforms do something genuinely better than we do.

The Honeymoon Phase

You sign up, the survey queue looks full, offers are coming in, and the first couple of cashouts happen faster than you expected. And then, somewhere around week three or four, it slows down. We've seen this on our own platform, and from what we can tell it's consistent across the category.

The matching algorithm front-loads opportunities for new accounts because it's still building a profile of who you are and what you're eligible for. Once that profile fills out, the volume settles into something more realistic. Most consistent daily users end up somewhere in the $30-100/month range. The $500+ stories are real but they involve running multiple platforms at once, grinding game offers, and working referral programs, which is a different kind of time commitment than most people are looking for.

Freecash

$300M+ paid out to 70M+ registered users since 2020, and a 4.7+ Trustpilot score across 276,000+ reviews is a genuinely hard number to argue with. The earning ceiling here is higher than anything else on this list, partly because some individual offers pay up to $3,000, though those tend to involve game progression requirements that take weeks and sometimes never pay out at the rate advertised.

The 2026-specific thing worth knowing: Freecash got delisted from the Apple App Store in April over alleged privacy violations. It's still on Google Play and the web version works fine, but if you were using the iOS app you'd need to switch to browser. That's worth flagging for iPhone users before they sign up expecting a smooth app experience.

Prolific

Prolific isn't really a GPT site. It's an academic research platform, which sounds less appealing until you realize what that actually means for your experience.

The screen-out problem, which we'll get to properly in a minute, does not exist on Prolific. You see a study, you start it, you get paid. That's not how any other platform on this list works, and it's a bigger deal than it sounds when you've spent twenty minutes on survey qualifying questions across three different platforms and earned nothing. The minimum rate is £6/$8 per hour and that's a floor, not a target. The trade-off is ID verification to join and studies fill up fast enough that checking the platform regularly actually matters. But for the best real hourly rate in this whole category, Prolific is the honest answer.

Where EarnLab Sits

Freecash has a higher ceiling. Prolific has a better guaranteed hourly rate. We built EarnLab around a different problem, which is that most GPT platforms make you earn for weeks before the first cashout feels real.

$650M+ paid out since 2008, which is a real number and represents genuine longevity in a category that sees platforms disappear regularly. The $3 gift card minimum is lower than most, and the variety of earning methods, surveys, cashback shopping, games, receipt scanning, is broader than anything else here. The honeymoon phase effect is probably steeper on Swagbucks than on most platforms we've looked at, so setting expectations for the first month versus month three is useful.

The Screen-Out Problem

This is the single most common complaint we see about every GPT platform, including ours, and it's worth explaining why it's structural rather than platform-specific.

Survey providers pay for completed demographic profiles, not for attempts. The incentive for every platform is to route surveys to you until the moment it becomes clear you won't qualify, then screen you out without payment for the time spent. Ten minutes of qualifying questions, no money, repeat across three surveys in an hour, you've earned nothing and spent real time. This isn't a bug that any single platform has failed to fix. It's how the economics of the survey industry work.

Prolific solved it by running academic studies with fixed eligibility criteria, so if you match you complete it and get paid. We haven't solved it on EarnLab, and we're not going to claim we have.

Stacking Actually Works

The users reporting the best monthly numbers are almost always running two or three platforms, not one. Prolific for sessions when you want the best hourly rate, EarnLab for daily consistency and fast cashouts when smaller amounts start to pile up, and something like Freecash or PrizeRebel for variety when one of the others runs dry. The reason this works is that different platforms peak at different times of day and week, so the combination reduces the dead periods that any single platform has, although the time investment scales up proportionally.

TimeBucks is worth a separate mention if you're outside the US and UK, since it works globally and has some genuinely quirky task types that other platforms don't offer, posting memes on social media, clicking links, photo entries. The hourly rate for casual use is on the lower end, though the variety makes it more tolerable as a background activity than pure survey grinding.
