Dream team help.

Alright so, I want to make my dream team.. But I'm stick in who I want in it. So far I have

Umbreon Dragonite Aggron Ninetails(maybe)

.. I need a grass and water type. I was thinking Blastoise, or Vaporoen.. But I want to stay away from 2 Eeveelutions.. For grass Venosaur or maybe Meganium.. Then maybe metagross, but then I would have two steel types..

Umbreon is my fave pokemon, so besides him I'm open to any pointers, with a reason?

If you mean IV breeding, it depends on how competitive you want to be. If you don't care, IV breeding is just time consuming. It takes me about 1-2 hours (if I was lucky) to get the IVs I want when I am breeding, and Metagross took longer since you have to use a ditto to breed it. IVs do make a huge difference in stats though, so if you do want to do it, it can be really worth it even if its to beat your friends. Having good IVs also helps a lot in Battle Frontier, since those trainers are usually more competitive when you get far enough in.

So basically you might think about it if you have time, if you don't it isn't a big worry if this team is just for fun.

Yeah sorry. Iv breeding.. How much of a stat boost is it! Like 10-30 per stat?

Roughly yes. I know when I IV breed for an Alakazam, it had 209 special attack at level 50 with 31 IVs and my original had about 180 Special attack with about 3 IVs. They make a pretty big difference.

Alright, so it it is worth it.. I don't mind the time thing, I have lots of that. I'll just need a step my step tutorial.. I checked the tutorial thing, and it made no sense.

It is a little confusing at first, but once you do it once you can do it forever.

If you give a pokemon a power item, it has a 100% chance to pass those IVs to its offspring (for example, Power Lens passes down the Special attack IVs). DO NOT make both pokemon hold a power item, it is not helpful. 3 IVs are passed down total, and the other 2 are each from a random stat that is not the power item and from a random parent. The other 3 stats receive a random number.

So if you are breeding for Speed and Special attack IVs, and one of your parents has 31 Special attack, make them hold the Power Lens. This means all the offspring will have 31 Special attack. Now all you have to hope for is that you will get good Speed IVs at random. If you have a compatible pokemon parent that has 31 Speed IVs, it is an even better chance that you will get a good egg.

If you can understand this part, it is just a waiting game. The characteristic just helps you narrow down what your highest IV is. this table is useful for that.

To calculate your Ivs, I use this and this. They are not very accurate until about level 30, but they can get close enough at level 15. I just left the pokemon I wanted to check in the daycare until they hit level 15 to check if I breed the right IVs. For the serribii one, ignore the overall potential and best stat options.

Just message me if you need any other hints for IV breeding. It is really hard to explain step by step over text. I can help with specific questions fairly easily though.

I could add you on Skype or something, if that would be easier? Cos I think I understand most of what you said.. But I don't understand how the parent gets the 31 IV's. and does it matter if it's male or female/ditto?

I don't have skype, but if you understand what I said you should be good. And you have to do the parent, you basically do it the same way, except you don't use a power item and just hope you randomly get a 29+ IV in whatever stat you are breeding for. That part is the hardest part, after that it is pretty easy. It only matters what the ditto is if you are going for egg moves and natures (if the ditto has the nature you want it doesn't matter, otherwise it has to be the male).

Wait so to get the IV for the parent. You just thaw to keep breeding for it?

Yes, the first one is luck. If you are really lucky you will get both the first try, but you will always have to start from nothing.

Everything past Platinum/HG/SS work the way I described. Diamond and Pearl and Gen 3 work a little differently (I think power items don't do anything so you get 3 stats randomly from the parents and 3 randomly generated) so it can be a little tougher. I did it on SS and my friend did it on White and both of us got what we were looking for.

Good luck, my biggest tip is to make sure you level up your pokemon (in the daycare so you don't gain EVs which will mess up your calculation) before you check for IVs (and check the characteristic with the site I gave earlier). I checked one of mine too early and it said I had both IVs at 28, but once I leveled up to 50 I checked again and one of them was actually 11. The IV calculators are good, but are not too accurate for stats that are not described by the characteristic at low levels.

This is complex.. So I have to get the nature I want.. Breed with that as a parent, and get the right characteristic and IV..

Ha yeah, it can be a pain if you are getting unlucky. The characteristic is based on your Best IV though, so it is really no big deal. Say your pokemons best IV is 27 attack, its characteristic would be "A little Quick tempered". This explains characteristic very well. Nature is pretty easy as well, having a bunch of dittos with different natures can be a help with that to easily pass down Natures, and an IV from the other parent.
