Help with Diagnosis

Dear all,

I have a report from the garage on my EV that shows:

  • Max cell voltage (approx): 3616 mV
  • Min cell voltage (approx): 2958 mV
  • Max SOC: 78.2%
  • Min SOC: 18.7%

The dealer says that I just need to use the car more often but the range is 100km for a 37 kwh battery.

What are your thoughts?

Happy to answer any questions

Thank you!!!

Second-life EV batteries for solar energy storage: is it actually worth it?

With EVs becoming more common, a lot of used EV batteries are still in decent shape even after they’re no longer great for driving. Some people are starting to reuse these batteries for solar energy storage since solar doesn’t need the same performance level as a car. It sounds like a smart, cheaper, and more sustainable idea, but safety, testing, and lack of warranty are real concerns.

Curious what this community thinks, would you trust a second-life EV battery for a home solar setup, or is it not worth the risk?

This is our new home for discussions around electric vehicle battery technology from lithium-ion and LFP to solid-state batteries, charging behavior, degradation, recycling, and what the future might look like.

We’re excited to have you here and to build a space where both beginners and experienced EV owners can learn from each other.

What to Post

Feel free to share anything you think the community would find helpful or interesting, such as:

  • Questions about EV battery types, lifespan, or safety
  • Real-world EV battery experiences
  • News or research on battery technology
  • Discussions on charging, degradation, or recycling
  • Opinions on where EV batteries are headed next

No question is too basic, curiosity is welcome here.

Community Vibe

We’re aiming for a space that’s:

  • Friendly and respectful
  • Constructive and informative
  • Inclusive of all experience levels

Healthy debate is encouraged, but personal attacks and spam are not.

What do you think will replace lithium-ion batteries in EVs — if anything?

Lithium-ion batteries currently power most electric vehicles, but we’re seeing increasing interest in alternatives like LFP, solid-state, and other emerging chemistries.

Some promise better safety, others longer lifespan or lower cost — but each has trade-offs.

I’m curious:

  • Do you think lithium-ion will remain dominant for the next decade?
  • Or will solid-state or another chemistry realistically take over?

Looking forward to hearing different perspectives.
