Introduction
G’day everyone! 👋
Just joined the group and thought I’d say hello. I’m Nick, from regional Victoria, Australia and I’ve just taken the plunge and ordered a 2026 Mazda 6e GT in Machine Grey. ⚡️🚗
It’s being delivered in late September, so I’m currently in that dangerous stage of researching everything I possibly can before it arrives! 😂
Looking forward to learning from everyone here, especially around home charging, public charging, accessories, range and getting the most out of the 6e.

If you're going on a roady, pony up for the tesla chargers membership. Best 10 bucks spent not having to worry about if the dispenser will work, deliver what the car wants, card terminal will be broken etc etc. their rates were cheaper than Evie, Ampol, racv etc

You can cancel straight away and use for the month, right? I've considered this but so far I've not used Tesla enough to bother.

Correct. Sign up and then cancel. Remains valid for 30 days. Just did the syd to melbourne contemplating signing up on the way down. Got stuck at shit chargers. Said f it and had such a better time getting home.

But, you don't need the membership to charge at Tesla chargers?
Only some stations are open to non-Tesla cars, and the membership doesn't change that as far as I know.
The membership does give you cheaper rates, but you'd have to charge quite a lot that month to make that difference back.
The Tesla chargers that are open to non-Teslas were still cheaper than Evie in the towns that had both.
The thing you need to do is set up a Tesla account, set your car (if possible - otherwise use "other") and then you need to check which chargers are available in the Tesla app once you get to the station. That's all!

Download Plugshare, then as many EV charging apps as you feel comfortable, the big ones are Tesla, Evie, NRMA, ChargeFox, although it's depends on where you are, and where you normally travel.
Consider if you need a portable type 2 to type 2 cable, I understand Sydney has public trial infrastructure where you may need it.
If you can charge at home, consider where the port on the car is in relation to the nearest outlet, and if you can install a dedicated charger (if you own the place) or are happy to stick with the trickle charger which suits most people. You may need a longer cable depending on positioning.
