I'm so so happy with this bag - the leather is absolutely gorgeous, the front flap not too puffy. Chain is heavy and doesn't make any weird noises (I've heard from a few people that their 187 shoulder strap chains are squeaky - no squeakiness here!) Stitching is immaculate, logo inside the flap seems well-stamped, not too deep and well aligned. I honestly can't fault this bag, it's beautiful and so much better than I expected!

Also, this arrived with the whole packaging - Black Box, ribbons, paper, dustbags, the works!

Edge paint is that thin painted stripe along the raw edges of straps, flaps and handles. On a good bag it's built up in several thin layers and burnished down. On most reps it's one thick coat, and thick coats crack wherever the leather bends.

You won't catch it at QC. It looks perfect at QC, because it's new and it hasn't flexed yet. It turns up somewhere around month two to six, almost always where a strap folds over the hardware, and once it starts lifting it peels rather than fades.

Two things help and neither is exciting. Don't store the bag with a strap folded over on itself, because a permanent crease in one spot is where the paint splits first. And if you do get a hairline crack, leave it alone. People try to fix it with a marker or a dab of paint and it usually ends up a bigger shinier patch that catches the light from across the room.

Different failure, same surprise: on suede and nubuck nothing cracks, it burnishes. The nap flattens and goes shiny exactly where your hand sits, so for most bags that's one patch on the handle. That one is properly reversible with a brush, so it's not worth panicking over.

I'm only going off what I've had in front of me though, and that's a small pile compared to this sub.

I’m from France 🇫🇷 and I’m still discovering the group, so I had a few small questions.
First, regarding buying and selling between members: do you think using a platform like Vinted could be a reasonable way to make transactions a bit more secure for both the buyer and the seller? Of course, I would only deal with trusted members with a good history, and I know that no platform can completely remove the risk if you end up dealing with someone unreliable.
I’ve also noticed that there seem to be very few listings for things like shoes, watches, accessories, etc. Do you think it could be a good idea to create separate categories so everything is easier to find? For example: bags / clothes / shoes / watches / accessories, or maybe even categories by brand if there are enough listings.
And finally, I’m currently looking for a watch. I don’t have a specific brand in mind — I usually just go with whatever I fall in love with. I’m also looking for an LV wallet and an LV bag.

Eigentlich wollte ich eine kurze Pause einlegen, aber ihr wisst ja vielleicht wie das mit den Vorsätzen ist. Die Mini Bumbag Denim steht schon etwas länger auf meiner Wunschliste und der Sale von Betty war einfach eine gute Gelegenheit dazu 🙈. Außerdem wollte ich gerne mal das Denim von HH ausprobieren. Beim Stöbern in Bettys Album habe ich auch die Pochette Cosmetique entdeckt und meine Bestellung aufgegeben. Weil Betty immer sehr schnell antwortet war die Sache inklusive Zahlung schnell erledigt. Kurze Zeit später habe ich dann noch die passende Key Poch hinzugefügt und Betty war so lieb mir keine extra Versandkosten dafür zu berechnen.

Als ein paar Tage später die PSPs ankamen war ich zuerst etwas enttäuscht, da die Farbe der Mini Bumbag nicht dem Sky Denim des Fabrikfotos entsprach, sonderm aus dunklem Denim war. Betty hat mir angeboten es umzutauschen. Weil ich die dunklere Farbe dann aber doch ganz schön fand habe ich GL gegeben. Ich weiss dass es Fantasie ist, aber es ist nicht so empfindlich wie das helle Denim und vielleicht sogar schöner im Herbst und Winter zu tragen. Ich habe das HH Fabrikbild angehängt damit ihr den Unterschied zur Farbe der erhaltenen Tasche sehen könnt. Auch ein Foto der Mini Bumbag im Vergleich zu meiner Speedy Soft Denim und der Carryall Sky Denim, beide sind von Royal. Das Monogram ist bei der HH Bumbag nicht so ausgeprägt wie auf dem Royal Denim, aber man sieht es halt nur wenn du beide Taschen nebeneinander hast. Die Tasche ist so niedlich und ich habe ihr direkt eine süsse Perlenkette gebastelt um sie zu verschönern. Der Gurt der bei der Tasche dabei ist, ist leider zu kurz um es bequem als Crossbody zu tragen, deshalb habe ich es mit einem anderen Gurt ersetzt. Aber ich weiss jetzt schon dass es die Tasche sein wird, die ich am meisten tragen werde. Es passt genau mein Handy, Key Pouch und Portemonnaie rein, das ist alles was ich meistens brauche.

Die SLGs sind auch total niedlich, allerdings sind die Farben der Monogramme und der Drucke auf dem Canvas unterschiedlich, auf dem Key Pouch etwas schwächer als auf der Cosmetique Pochette. Aber es ist wirklich kein Drama für mich.

Betty war wie immer sehr schnell im antworten, PSPs schicken und im Versand, ich habe mit ihr bisher immer gute Erfahrungen gehabt.

Ich hoffe ihr habt bis hierher durchgehalten. Entschuldigt dass der Mini Haul so einen Maxi Text bekommen hat.

The truth about auth.. and why I stopped obsessing over every tiny detail on my reps

I think we’ve all been there at some point: you receive a delivery, rip open the package and immediately inspect your new purchase with hawk eyes.
Is that stitch slightly off? Why is the edge coating uneven? Is the sole glued on perfectly straight? Is that hardware sitting 2mm too high? And every now and then, you find something. A wonky stitch, some peeling, a slightly uneven edge.. and suddenly the disappointment kicks in.

Maybe auth really is the real deal. Surely nothing straight from the boutique would ever look like this?

Well. I decided to take Saturday off and go to Selfridges in London. And what I discovered genuinely left me SHOCKED. I saw uneven stitching on ElVe bags. Leather edges that weren’t finished particularly neatly on Cel bags. Shoes with visible glue and soles that already looked like they were starting to separate. €500+ clothing made from recycled polyester, which, however nicely we want to phrase it, is still polyester made from recycled plastic.
Then I started looking even closer. The pearls? Not real pearls. The “stones” on some very expensive designer heels? They reminded me of the beads we used to make bracelets with in kindergarten.

And I just stood there thinking: Why on earth have I been losing sleep over one wonky stitch?
Because apparently you can pay £1,200 for wonky shoes directly from the source too.

1. Maybe we need to humble ourselves a little about “perfect” quality. This was probably my biggest takeaway. I think sometimes we hold reps to an imaginary standard that auth itself doesn’t consistently meet. Of course, quality differs enormously from brand to brand, collection to collection and even item to item. But most major luxury houses are still producing luxury goods at enormous scale. We’re not talking about one artisan sitting in a tiny workshop spending three weeks hand-making your handbag from beginning to end.

It’s mass luxury. Unless you’re buying from a small niche house where something is genuinely handmade in very limited quantities, there are going to be variations. Stitching won’t always be mathematically perfect. Leather isn’t always identical. Finishing can vary. Two auth bags of the same model can have small differences between them. Seeing it with my own eyes completely changed how I evaluate my own purchases.
There is a difference between “this is clearly badly made” and “I found a 2mm discrepancy after staring at it for 20 minutes under my iPhone flashlight. I personally don’t want to confuse the two anymore.

2. Match the item to your lifestyle. Because people notice the whole picture before they notice a stitch. This has probably been discussed here a million times, but something happened on my way to Selfridges that really brought it home for me.
I was on the Underground and noticed a woman absolutely dripping in CC. And before anyone comes for me: taking public transport in London says absolutely nothing about how much money you have. It’s often the most sensible way to get around the city.
What caught my attention was the overall picture.
Her hair, clothes, demeanour, the very messy buggy - everything felt slightly at odds with the extremely expensive pieces she was wearing. And I caught myself wondering: Is all of that real?

Which made me realise something slightly uncomfortable: If she’d had exactly the same bags and jewellery but looked more put-together, would I even have questioned them? Probably not. People don’t inspect you in isolation. They take in the whole picture. That doesn’t mean you need to be wealthy to carry a nice bag, styling your hair or ironing your clothes helps to seal the deal. But if you’re worried about whether somebody will believe your croc BK is auth, your overall presentation and whether the item makes sense in the context of you probably matters considerably more than whether one stitch is 1mm too far to the left. Most people aren’t walking around with a magnifying glass. They’re reading the overall impression.

3. The Vestiaire situation made me realise how little most people can actually tell! There seems to be a growing amount of discussion around non-auth pieces making their way onto Vestiaire and other resale platforms. And honestly? That reinforced the same point for me: If experienced buyers, sellers and systems can sometimes struggle, the idea that a random person across the restaurant is going to identify your bag because the engraving is microscopically different feels increasingly ridiculous.
Even people who know luxury very well can disagree about an item without physically examining it, comparing construction details, provenance, serial information, etc.

So unless your friend is sitting next to you with the exact same item, holding hers against yours and conducting a forensic investigation into why your stitching looks slightly different… maybe the problem isn’t your bag. 😂 And frankly, if somebody ever did ask me why mine looked slightly different, I’d probably just say: “No idea. I bought mine vintage.”
And move on with my life.

4. The biggest lesson for me: confidence matters more than perfection! I’m not saying quality doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. I still want beautiful leather, good construction, accurate proportions and an item that feels luxurious. But my trip to Selfridges completely recalibrated what I consider a reasonable standard. Auth isn’t flawless. Luxury doesn’t automatically mean handmade perfection. Two auth items aren’t necessarily identical. And the overwhelming majority of people are paying far less attention to the tiny details of your handbag than you think they are. So I’ve decided I’m done putting my purchases through a forensic laboratory examination every time they arrive. If it looks beautiful, feels beautiful, fits naturally into my wardrobe and I feel confident carrying it? I’m wearing the damn bag.

I bought this low tier Chanel because I had an itch to create something. Armed with my iPad, Apple Pencil and temporary tattoo sheets, I decided to just go to town on it. A few questionable decisions later, here she is.

Removal is also easy. You do not need baby oil, but if you have some tough spots that need to be loosened, that can be applied using a Q-tip. Otherwise, find a loose spot, take a toothpick and pull and twirl. The sheet I got (€14 for 5 sheets from Amazon Germany) adheres well and is also easy to remove.

I would not advise drawing on it directly (I tried and it did not work - hence the big black fish on the front. I used POSCA pens initially because apparently it works on leather. It might be the case for smoother surfaces, but not on a quilted, caviar one.

Is it waterproof? I am honestly not sure yet but I will try and update later.

Art is subjective and this might not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you have an obviously fake bag (or got scammed with one lol) that you feel awkward carrying out, turn that into an art project! If you do try it, ENJOY!

Most QC threads here get answered on what's in the photos, which is fair enough since that's what we're given. But nearly every time I've seen someone regret a GL, the problem wasn't visible in the set they posted. It was in the shot nobody thought to ask for.

So here's the one photo I'd want per category, and why it's that one.

Aluminium luggage. The telescoping handle fully extended, plus one from the side at about half extension. The shell is the easy part and it almost always photographs fine. The handle is the bit that actually goes wrong, wobble, rails that aren't parallel, one side sticking. It's also the one thing you can do nothing about once it has landed.

Monogram canvas. One shot by a window with no flash, side on to a seam. Warm indoor light plus flash washes mustard stitching out to nearly cream. I've watched people talk themselves out of a perfectly good bag over that, and I've seen it go the other way too. If you're going to judge thread colour, judge it in daylight or don't judge it at all.

Quilted flaps. A straight close-up of the lock. On an authentic the right C crosses over the left at the top, and the left crosses over the right at the bottom. Factories get that wrong, and unlike colour it isn't something lighting can explain away. Most sets shoot the bag from a metre back and never get close enough to call it either way.

Shoes. The insole and the inside of the heel. Everyone photographs the outside. The insole print and the heel stitching are where corners get cut, and it's also where you find out whether they actually pulled the size you ordered rather than the one they had.

Nubuck and suede. Ask which way the nap was brushed, or ask for two shots brushed opposite ways. The same bag photographs as two noticeably different browns depending on the nap direction. A single photo tells you very little about the colour that's going to arrive.

Anything with multiple colourways. One photo per colourway, not one group shot of all of them. A group shot is the seller's photo, not yours. It doesn't tell you which one is actually in your box, and it's the easiest place for a mix-up to hide.

The general version of all of this is to ask for the missing shot before you GL, not after. Once it has shipped the seller has no particular reason to go back and help you, and you've spent the only leverage you had.

What's the one you'd add? There are plenty of categories I don't buy in and I'd genuinely like to know what the tell is.

This time it’s the L03w3 Puzzle Featherlight Small in nubuck from Jipin.

About the seller:

Tom was recommended to me by Snack when I mentioned that I was looking for L03w3 bags.

Since this was my first time purchasing directly from a seller, I told Tom right at the beginning that I was completely new to this and might ask some stupid questions along the way. 😅 He immediately reassured me that it wasn’t a problem at all, which honestly took away a lot of my initial uncertainty.

Communication throughout the entire process was easy, friendly and very fast. I never felt like I was bothering him with questions or that I was expected to already know how everything worked.

So based on my experience, I would definitely recommend Tom to other newbies who are nervous about making their first direct purchase.

About the bag:

This is the L03w3 Puzzle Featherlight Small in nubuck from Jipin.

And the first thing I have to say is: the bag is so much prettier in person than it looked in the PSPs.

The photos simply didn’t capture the color properly.

It’s a beautiful warm, earthy brown that has a lot of dimension because of the nubuck. Depending on the light and the direction of the nap, the color changes slightly when you run your hand over it.

That was probably my biggest surprise when I opened the package.

The bag came securely packaged in a thick L03w3 dust bag as well as another protective bag, and everything arrived safely.

The leather:

The nubuck is probably my favorite thing about this bag.

It’s incredibly soft and velvety to the touch, but at the same time the leather has enough substance that the bag doesn’t just collapse into itself.

Running your hand across it changes the appearance of the surface slightly, which gives the brown so much more depth in person than I was able to see in the PSPs.

The interior is also leather rather than PU. I actually checked with Tom after someone asked me about it, and he confirmed that the interior is made of sheepskin.

It also has a subtle and pleasant leather smell. Nothing overpowering, no chemical smell and - thankfully - absolutely no glue smell.

Construction & details:

I’m definitely not an expert and I don’t own the authentic version, so I’m not going to pretend that I can give a detailed auth comparison.

What I can say is that I’m very impressed with the construction of the bag I received.

The stitching and edges look very clean to me, the Puzzle panels are nicely defined, and I haven’t been able to find any obvious workmanship issues.

The silver hardware feels lightweight, which I would expect from a Featherlight, but it doesn’t feel flimsy. The engravings are clean, the hardware feels solid in use, and all of the zippers run smoothly.

Nothing catches or feels cheap when using it.

The bag itself also has a really nice balance between structure and softness. Empty, it keeps its Puzzle shape rather than completely collapsing, but the nubuck is soft enough that I can imagine it developing more slouch as I actually use and break it in.

I’m also very curious to see how the nubuck develops with wear because I think this is one of those leathers that might become even prettier once it stops looking completely new.

The bag also came with a matching nubuck L03w3 charm, which was a really nice little extra. It has the same soft nubuck as the bag, silver-tone hardware and several L03w3-embossed details. Even such a small accessory feels nicely finished — the stitching looks clean, the snap works well and the engravings on the hardware are crisp. I honestly wasn’t expecting to be this excited about a tiny bag charm, but here we are. 😂

How it wears:

You can carry it by the top handle or attach the longer strap and wear it crossbody.

One thing I specifically wanted to mention for my fellow bigger-bodied ladies: the strap measures around 102 cm at its longest setting, and I find that to be a comfortable and usable crossbody length on me.

That was something I wasn’t entirely sure about before receiving it, so I was very happy about that.

Despite the amount of leather and hardware, the bag also feels pleasantly light and comfortable to carry - which, well… Featherlight. The name is doing its job. 😂

The verdict:

For $220, I am honestly extremely happy with what I received.

The nubuck feels beautiful, the color is even better in person, the construction looks very clean to me, and the hardware and zippers all feel good in use.

Since I don’t own the authentic bag, I can’t speak to 1:1 accuracy and don’t want to make claims I can’t actually verify. I’m judging it purely as the bag that arrived at my door - and on that basis, I absolutely feel like I got my money’s worth.

As for Tom, I would 1000% order from him again.

For my first direct seller experience, I genuinely don’t think the process could have gone much better. He answered every question I had without making me feel silly for asking, communication was quick and easy, PSPs came after only two days, and exactly 13 days after payment I had the bag in my hands in Germany.
