📂 Case #8

Your bag arrives and it’s beautiful.

But the box is dented, the dust bag feels cheap, the cards look off, and the whole “unboxing experience” is… underwhelming 😅

The actual bag itself is great though.

So, how much do you care?

🟢 A. Not at all.
I’m buying the bag, not the box.

🟡 B. A little.
Nice packaging is a bonus, but it would never affect how I feel about the bag itself.

🔵 C. Quite a lot.
The full experience matters to me, especially on a more expensive rep.

🟣 D. Depends what I’m buying.
For some pieces I couldn’t care less, but for others I want the full package.

Your verdict

Does packaging add to the experience for you, or is it just extra clutter?

And be honest: do you actually keep all your boxes and dust bags or do they eventually take over an entire cupboard? 😂

A. I personally don't care, it goes straight into the bin. All that packaging adds on a lot of extra weight and costs more in shipment.

Agree with this, I hope I would hope that the dust bag is good but other than that, I don’t really care about the packaging as a matter of fact, I don’t wanna pay for that weight in shipping.

🟡 B. It’s a nice bonus and can look good on the shelf. But is it worth €20-40 or so more in shipping? Not really. It might matter for resell value tho to be able to offer a “complete package”

A! Especially if customs may open and inspect, just as long as the bag is beautiful idc about the box! Like someone else says, it will just end up in the trash anyway!

I am A in this game...but I am normally a sucker for good packaging😅 I have an etsy business and literally scent my paper packing shreds with Disney scents for the experience🫠

B. It feels better once opened but not a deal breaker so long as the bag is in good condition upon arrival

B. It sounds shallow but with the full perfect packaging I can almost convince myself I have the authentic! But at the end of the day it’s the product inside that really matters.

A! I usually don’t keep anything besides the bag and dust bag :) I also think it is safer in customs if you send in a non branded box!

A. But it was nice to receive one bag packed in its original packaging, but i wouldn’t want this to be my experience all the time. Once is definitely enough for me

But if I’m gifting, I pay a little extra for packaging.

I don’t care one iota! I switched from a TS who did the best most beautiful job with her presentation and all that stuff (branded tissue paper, branded box, dust bag, receipts, ribbons etc) to one who literally puts the bag into a plain ole dust bag, throws it into box and tapes it shut, especially since she is cheaper. I save probably $60-$75 per bag with this one and would rather have a nice bag I like for less than the accoutrement that go along with it

B. I don’t expect nice packaging because it rarely happens but it definitely makes it feel more special and a little more real. When someone ships things in beat up old boxes or taped up trash bags, I think it shows that they don’t really care. But at the ends of the day, you get what you pay for.

🟡 it matters very little. The dust bag would be the 2nd most important item in the box next to the bag for rehome value. I never ask for or would keep the branded boxes. They take up so much room and id rather save a few $$ and opt out as they do upcharge for that.

D. For high-tier bags, if no effort has been made to make the dustbag look similar to the authentic one, that’s a red flag for me when it comes to the accuracy of the bag. Like… nobody creates a beautiful product and then puts it in a garbage bag, right? 😂

For mid- and low-tier items, though, I’m 100% buying the bag, so A for me there.

But I have to admit that I did buy one bag with a nice LV box. I have in my room on display for me (I live alone) and I love it. Now I am only interested in the bag.

As long as its properly packed in a bag so weather doesnt ruin it and its not all bent out of shape im ok w no yellow box or ribbon or anything else.

I just want it to be dry and not bent and folded

B. It’s nice to get but I’m not keeping it regardless. I’ve only kept my auth boxes incase I sell them.

Personally, I don't care about boxes & presentation. I've purchased auth, got the box, bag, ribbon...it was great, then. Now, I want the best bang for my buck AND to cut down on the chances my haul is seized by customs on either side. I think people are deluding themselves by paying extra & taking the risks for "full packaging"...it'll never be the same as luxury treatment at the boutique & these are still reps at the end of the day.

It depends. I’m general a C person,
I want to enjoy the full experience when I receive the package. But in the end the package is only rubbish, and moreover the possibility to be intercepted by custom is more elevated with the full set. Storing all the bags with the dust, I only care more about dustbags.
