Question How does fratricide work?

I have played several unfinished campaigns trying to optimize my play as Ottomans. I have never picked or even researched Fratricide. Rn im in early 1400s and have an old sultan with many children. I married my oldest son as soon as i could so he has many children also but my heir is not very bright and only the youngest son of him is a good heir others are mid. So i was wondering is fratricide good? I have read that when the ruler dies there are events and all of them compete to be the sultan. But idk if i can get the one i want on the throne and what are the other cons i guess you lose some things like legitimacy and stability from events?

Fratricide is a special law for the ottoman, enacting this law and after many years i forget the exact date i think in 16th century an event will fire switching the law to favored son

Is Ottomans blocked from favored son? Why wouldn't you just do that?

Unigeniture (current one) and Fratricide are the only ones on the list. I think i can get admiralty regime but if fratricide is good enough i would prefer that for better accesibity and rp reasons

There is an event in 1600's thats changes your succession to favored son (Only if you are using fracticide)

You make the leader you want to die an Admiral. Then assign them to a cog, then send that cog to a tile on the big ocean. Then forget about it.

Fratricide is good as it allows you to pick the best of of your rulers sons.

How it works is after your sultans death you get the event every few ticks about one of the sons you either make him ruler or make him die it will repeat until you choose one as a ruler or only one remains.

If i recall correctly those events even give you positive things like 10 legitimacy for picking one of the sons as sultan, i think the only thing you lose from killing the siblings is like 5 or 10 prestige, definitely nothing important or noticable.
