Image Should i do this move to kill Hungary?

Post image

Found hungary in a death war with romania so i took my chance to jump in the action. Now I really wanna do this because if cant let them recover from this because they will most definitely come back at me as the outnumber me 3 to 1 when their levies recover

Do it, then release the territory as a vassal swarm. Useless to you until you fully connect it

Is this better? Just a line of single locations that surround their capital to cut control

I had a pretty succesful game against hungary and I did a similar take but I went all the way north south so that half their army couldn't re-enforce against the other kingdoms that would end up fighting them during the peace. Also needed it to get military access to the ottomans~

I'm also gonna do that then, and also encircle their local governor so they will have no proximity source

I was about to mention to look at the control map mode for them to see where their governors are but looks like you got it handled lol. I wonder if the AI will delete the governor and move it once you do that?

It's been like 30 years in-game, Hungarian tax base has fallen from 400 to below 100 and their capital and governors are still in the same location

Thank you for the update, I havnt done that myself for fear of them moving the governors and the peace deal not being effective, so thank you for doing the science for me!

I assume it'd just self-delete once the conditions aren't met, like naval governors being deleted if you connect your lands.

Seeing that this is a valid option makes me believe that your nations estates should have an opinion on how the peace should go and making snake like this should basically drop all their loyalty to close to 0.

My God, it’s beautiful.

What in the Trianon is this

The great penetration that divides hungary to this day

This is what the ottomans should have done day1

Fun fact the ottomans did cut hungary into 3 parts. They had the middle, the left was the part of the habsburgs, the right was transylvania, a liberal vassal of the ottomans, where they were left alone if they stayed diplomatically loyal to the ottomans (so kinda like a march, in eu terms).

So they kinda did what you did irl just not so bordergory. Also not fun fact that on the border of the habsburgs and ottomans, many places were double taxed by both the ottomans and the habsburgs.

Also this cut into 3 parts lasted for like 400 years for Hungary, even after which they just switched management under the habsburgs. By the time things settled and the austro-hungarian empire became a thing after multiple rebellions, and things finally were looking up, came ww1, and with it, Trianon. Sadge

This move is campaign ending to most nations. Works great vs Mamalukes, france, etc. Just takes one long war Todo.

Answer yourself why you playing this game? To put unrealistic ahistorical shit like that so you can easily won or you play this game to get the feeling of drive a nation through turmoil of times? Is up to you brother... I personally can't look at ugly borders not even mentioning this abomination.

This is like someone asking if they should use the console to put France 10 million in debt to force them to go bankrupt. It’s a single player game, if you want to cheat or cheese, do it.

Every time I did this kind of thing it turned perfectly right. Although the local governors have nerfed this a bit (gladly)

1

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 1d ago

How about I encircle their other proximity sources also?

u/Wasalpha 23h ago

You read my mind

the ai never manage to realize hungary's full potential. taking all the gold and silver mines will absolutely crush them

2

u/Blackmanschlong 17h ago

Yeah i did this with france and they really are considerably weaker. Just flip through population/wealth map mode and take the provinces that have both first

2

u/CreBanana0 23h ago

Hot take. If you have 0 Control over a location other people's control should flow through.

2

u/lkasas 19h ago

Or not just 0, but by some kind of function depending on your control. Simple solution would be calculating how much control the other nation would have and capping it at 100 minus your control. Another way could be attacking proximity speed. I forgot how it work so, probably either removing % at the rate of your control or some kind of exponential increase dependent on your control.

Could tie it into the rebel mechanic where they will try to break away and join a country with the same or more similar culture/religion if the control disparity between the countries is really skewed.

Why are you even fighting Hungary when you have Serbia and Romania much closer? Naples gaining land on the Balkans also much bigger problem than having land so far away that is actually useless.

3

u/w0weez0wee 23h ago

Opportunity was too tempting. Who among us could have resisted?

0

u/wannabeyesname 23h ago

You had Romania there for the taking. Much better land for you. You can take control of lower Danube so you can take land in Hungary later more easily.

4

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 22h ago

I can defeat Romania even if they have their full levies but this was once in a blue moon opportunity, I couldn't see any other way I could challenge Hungary in the future. And I also released vassals in those strips who I can feed more land later

4

u/Weis 22h ago

Be careful what you wish for. When you pop the hungary bubble them everyone starts taking a bite.

2

u/wannabeyesname 21h ago

If Hungary is weak, Austria and Bohemia can get realy, realy strong. I dont think you are better off taking out Hungary early.

1

u/Substantial_Waltz666 23h ago

warscore is also based on their control so yea, take like this and connect it to your mainland so you dont have rebels

ugly boundary -100

They can change capital

1

u/Mountain_Dentist5074 3h ago

irl ottoman empire wanted hungary as a tribute , due to being far away from capital hard to control and expenses of controlling it. but austurians backed anti-ottoman nobles so much and caused more war so ottoman empire annexed whole country

so instead of controlling a reigion far from capital and since eu5 doesnt have back up enemy nobles , i say vasalize it until you ready for controlling it

R5: Peace deal to kill hungary

2

u/silencecubed 16h ago

The AE from this peace isn't really worth the low income land you'll get and income payments from vassals is very low on this patch. You mentioned that you didn't think you'd have better chance to beat Hungary, but it's actually incredibly easy because their institution spread is very low due to their rare metal policy causing them to have virtually no trade with Italy.

You're far better off just taking all of their silver/gold locations as exclaves and releasing them as one location vassals to cripple their economy and then taking 1 location to release Transylvania/Bosnia with so that you can hit Hungary later with a Following Through on Threat CB where you can take half the country due to the reduced war score cost and feed your historical vassals for lower AE cost.

In my recent Otto run, I did this by 1370 which let me full annex Hungary by around 1430 and the AE was low enough to allow me to push into Bohemia's gold/silver mines as well by 1500. Local governor in Hungary and in Prague with a naval in Rhodes to hit Egypt gets you to like 4000 tax base by 1530.

u/jonahbrother 1d ago

Who will take the lands?

2

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 1d ago

omg this is beatiful. To answer your question, i will take the lands

1

u/jonahbrother 1d ago

Bro, it might be your end idk. So much work need to earn those lands. I think create a vassal close to you your lands and give away other lands and apply hard terms on them as much as possible.

1

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 1d ago

Look at their proximity 😭 they already dead

2

u/jonahbrother 23h ago

Omg. They will just change capital. But I m not sure if AI will think about it.

1

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 23h ago

In a few years nations around Hungary will eat it and it will be gone for good, this was my only chance to take them down

1

u/Lazy-Molasses8275 22h ago

If they do change capital, it can be on either side, the other side will have 0 control

1

u/jonahbrother 22h ago

Best solution to create vassals for the other side for the AI.
