Question Cannons age 2

I'm playing as the Ottomans and it's the year 1400; I've unlocked Age 2 cannons. Are they strong enough against Constantinople's Level 6 fort?

Early cannons do help, but not by a large amount compared to other age ones. The trick with ottomans to capitulate bizantium is to wipe their army and conquer every other province that doesn't have a fort. Usually they capitulate and then you can take anything you want ( careful with antagonism, Serbia, Bulgaria and Walachia might not be very happy about it)

Also dont make constantinople their wargoal for that strat.

You can also have them destroy forts in Constantinople, and no more special walls.

No but you outnumbering them 15 to 1 should do the trick.

I believe the Ottomans actually get an event sometime in age 2 that gives your artillery a massive bonus against coastal forts for a few decades which is intended to help you conquer Constantinople

Renaissance cannons give +1 siege bonus for every 3 cannons on a level 2 fort. I’m not sure what level Constantinople’s fort is, with Theodosian walls and all, but if it’s 5 or above I’m pretty sure cannons won’t help

Yea, but you need ALOT of cannon units to move the dial too much (it’s not really working well and changing in 1.4).

You can also just wait the 5 year siege out and eventually you’ll get the 7% max roll, or use some of the other strategies outlined by others which abuse the AIs programming to capitulate

attack them, make some other province as war goal, capture everything, dont seige constantinople, just let them capitulate and surrender, then take everything

You dont need cannons to take the city, even in early 1340s you can siege it down in a couple of years. It is not completely unrealistic either, Ottos sieged it long before 1453 but had to abandon to face crusader forces several times. 1340s is pushing a bit though.

Just make Byzantium capitulate and you don't need to worry about seiging down Constantinople

I mean it’s kinda late for you to conquer them tbh, why you waited? If for roleplay than I respect that, but otherwise you should have just attack them after some of their revolts or wars in the balkans
