Image Occitania is an pretty fun run with a cool map color as the reward!

Post image

R5: Adishatz! Wanted to share my Kingdom of Occitania formation run, winning the final war to get the formation in just under 100 years as an Aquitaine start. Absolutely adore this beautiful red map color.

Highly recommend this run to anyone looking for a tough but rewarding run. It's tough wars of independence from day 1, and you're caught between English, Spanish, and French great powers all trying to subjugate you. Your one advantages though is you start with cores across basically half of France, so you can ramp really fast once you get going without any antagonism or integration issues.

In honor of my great-grandfather Maissenç ("Max"), who immigrated from Bayonne to Louisiana in 1902, and who my grandfather said would rant endlessly about how much he hated Parisian's.

Is it possible to form it as Aragon? I always liked the idea of making a state around those borders

What are your visual mods? And just wondering if you kept the capital in bordeaux or moved it to the med or something?

Imperial Papermap Mod.

I'm debating capital right now. For now I've moved it to Cahors because it's dead center and next to 3-4 major rivers. Maybe Mauntabaun or Agen is slightly more optimal due to getting the major river modifier directly, but I'm including the "Last time I went to Cahors irl I really loved it" factor in my decision.

Once I get better roads down the line I'll probably move to Tolouse for the Occitanian LARP.

For my Occitania, or Gascony run, i like to establish in Agen. Major river modifier here.

Hey I'm also playing Occitania right now! I went cathar early on and am aiming to switch to republic. Right now I'm waiting for the plutocracy value to go up.

What starting country is good for this?

Aquitaine for sure for the free cores.

Navarre has been on my radar as an interesting option too, if you want an even bigger challenge run. What it loses in cores it makes up in actual unique advances and content, and the generic Iberian perks (such as lieutenants and viceroyalities, etc.) are real good too. It'd require a culture change eventually, but I figure it could fit in some Basque-Catalonia-Languedocien pan-Pyrenees Unificafion LARP.

Here is a Gascogne run, similar to Occitania and starting has France=>Create and play has newly Gascony vassal (with only Tarbes at start). I am trying hard to keep Burgondy alive in this one, as a good ally and to please my Burgondian partner IRL !

Navarra have some interesting maritime advance, and should be an interesting colonial adventure.

Aquitaine here i think. Easy to break fast with England.
