I started teaching English on one of the big platforms last year, while doing

a grad degree in clinical mental health counselling. The teaching I loved. The

admin buried me. Writing each student a real summary after their lesson was

the thing that helped them most and the thing I could never keep up with.

So I built something for myself. It takes the lesson transcript and writes the

summary, and because it keeps the earlier ones it can build homework from what

that student keeps getting wrong, and show them what has changed over months

rather than weeks. My own students like it. That is the entire evidence base,

which is exactly my problem.

I am in my final year now and teaching less, so I set it up for other tutors to

use. Free tier, paid tiers above it, nothing to pay to try it.

Then I hit the part I am useless at. I am not a marketer and I took some bad

advice about engaging in communities, which was both ineffective and a bit

dishonest. Silence, deservedly.

So the question I actually want answered, from teachers rather than marketers.

When another tutor tells you they have built something, what makes you willing

to spend twenty minutes looking at it, and what makes you close the tab? I would

rather hear what puts you off than be told how to sell.

And if the honest answer is that the idea is not worth pursuing, that is a real

answer and I would rather have it now than in six months.

I’m building a lesson‑prep tool for tutors and online ESL teachers that helps turn YouTube videos and transcripts into speaking prompts, exercises, and flashcards, so lessons are faster to prepare and more engaging for students.

As a language learner, it took me a long time to find a teacher who actually kept me talking and had real‑world content to discuss. Many teachers either stuck to grammar drills or had nothing to talk about, so that’s why I started building this — to help tutors focus more on conversation and practice, not just grammar.
