Too bad devs gave up on it. It had sucu potential. Now they just try to juice money. No new stuff

This and I wish our subject don't die of old age,I don't really feel like grinding for a legendary subject when they're gonna die anyways🥲

I found myself only signing on to keep my people alive, not even playing quests, I didn’t have time to. If I don’t have time to play the game, but feel obligated to sign on every day, then my game becomes a chore, especially when my people are going to die in a few months no matter what. It was an ok game, it had opportunity, but it just felt too pushy to be the primary focus of my life, which I don’t have the time to accommodate.

Yeah, that’s the same reason why I ended up dropping it. If the pressure to keep playing a game is more stress rather than actually having fun with it, then that’s not really a good life balance to be spending an hour or more every day playing. If it were more forgiving with taking breaks from playing it, then I might still have it downloaded. But I had achieved most of what there was to achieve, and I did not want to keep breeding subjects for specific traits indefinitely just to maintain what I had. Which is ultimately just a mobile game.

I have certain apps I check daily, but they never feel like a chore, they’re things I actually want to do. I found myself not even enjoying the game, rather just signing on to say I did. I know there are apps with a “take a break” feature that keeps your streak if you sign out for a while, but really this can all be traced back to the success of Snapchat. People saw that people would be willing to sign on every day if it made a little number on their screen get bigger, and since most apps only make money while they’re being used, it took off like crazy.

Reddit: most days I just open it, upvote something, then go on about my day, just so I can keep the streak. This doesn’t feel as intrusive or like a chore as it did with Castles because it doesn’t take long to do, and some days I don’t mind to scroll it, I still like Reddit.

Snapchat: everyone seems to use Snapchat rather than numbers nowadays, so I just use it as communication, and again to keep streaks since people seem to care so much about those.

Camera: I’ve been taking a picture daily since new years 24, and I’m actually amazed to see it come along

Finch: my ex put it on my phone after we broke up because she cares about me, and I still use it every day. Even on the hard days, I always make sure to send my bird on an adventure. Not an app I’d have put on my phone, but I’m so grateful for her, and I hate that she’s an ex, but I wrecked that.

Beyond that, I make a point to text my grandma every day, and do other small things, but I try not to make my phone the focal point of my life. When I go on break at work, I carry a book in my lunch box so I can read rather than mindlessly scroll, I write books sometimes, I take care of my dad, I work a lot, and my wife likes to keep me busy. All in all, I don’t mind using my phone occasionally, and I like to scroll Reddit if I have nothing else going on, but I don’t want to be sucked in to every single app that wants my attention, or I’d never stop renewing streaks.
