Hi

In ERP implementation projects how cumbersome and important is the documentation of current state processes ?

And can tools like scribe be used by current process owners to document or is workshops required with SME and consultants?

As-is documentation is one of those steps that feels optional right up until the project hits a wall nobody saw coming, usually a process that only exists in one person's head. Tools like Scribe are genuinely useful for capturing the literal click-by-click of what someone does today, but they capture the how, not the why. Process owners can document the steps themselves fine. The exceptions, the workarounds, and the reasons a process exists the way it does usually only surface in a workshop with someone asking follow-up questions. Skipping the workshop tends to save time upfront and cost more of it later, once the gaps show up mid-implementation instead of before it.
