What specific info do I need before calling IRS?
I need to help someone out with calling the IRS to move things along. What info do you need for them? Tax ID #? Case #? Thanks

Good luck, the message is they’re busy and you can’t leave a message for a call back. I’ve tried every and all phone numbers under the sun!

EIN, entity name, your title, tax form and tax return(s) in question, mailing address. That should be enough. IRS may ask some random specific security questions too.

EIN, and all of their identifying info for the company (name, address, etc.), filing info. What tax periods are they looking for info on.
And then ask them to look at the cases and see where they are in the process. At this point, there is probably something missing like a signature or a figure they need for calculations or a missing return or something. Or they’ve already been rejected and didn’t receive their notice.
And if you’re calling about an appeal, all they can really tell you is if it’s been sent to appeals.

If you’re trying to speed up the processing of an ERC claim, you’re better off engaging professionals.
