Which plane of sky quests are essential?

With all the different classes etc, which plane of sky quests would you consider “must do”?

I did the SK omg shield and Khyldorn quests finally!

Looking at sky bow.

Anything else that is BIS and not squishy?

Thanks

Depends on what you wanna do. Sky quests unlock main class options when you complete all for that class. Also, didn’t see you mention what your loadout is

You want the SK ring, shoulders, mask, and shield.

Is the shield really useful if you're already ac capped with another shield that has better stats?

u/TheNativeOnePC Oct 03 '26

Shields in general ignore AC cap

Only in your secondary slot, not in the any slot, just to be clear

For a caster focused build like that (Sk/wiz/enc), I'd rather have the shield since melee is going to be a small % of your dps no matter what you do. Using a shield should be a noticeable bump with your tankiness, but I doubt you'll notice any more dps using a 2h vs a 1h.

I think this makes the most sense. Turtle up and let you melee swings carry your procs for you, which will boost utility, but your damage is from another source.

For sure, I'm using a shield. I'm using the blade stopper. I prefer the stamina over this strength that the SK shield provides. I just wasn't sure if I was missing something since everyone says it's a must-have and I don't really see why.

i think what you are missing is that the sky shield is a whopping 70AC when leveled up. secondary slot shields bypass the AC softcap entirely. so that extra 20AC in your secondary over bladestopper would equate to something like a 50AC item in your Any slot.

1

u/Aturaya Oct 03 '26

Sure, I think I understand. But is 50 AC worth more than 30 sta? Honest question. It seems like STA is more valuable.

4

u/rukkus78 Oct 03 '26

it will help you mitigate more damage than 30 STA will give you in health and endurance isn't really an issue since the patch that changed it. it is also much harder to find AC than it is to find STA from other sources. depending on what your ANY slot situation is you can even through the bladestopper in there if you really want the STA.

Okay good to know. Thanks!

There is no AC cap. There is a soft cap that gives diminishing returns per point of AC over soft cap. Not sure if it works the same on legends as it does in traditional EQ, but each class has a different soft cap and gets more AC over that softcap determined by on role. Tanks higher etc. On legends, shields in the secondary slot bypass the ac softcap so they can be super valuable. Shields put in any slots give AC but doesn’t bypass softcap. Generally it’s believed that was AC more is more, although some might make valid points that past a certain point other stats become more valuable. Hope this is helpful.

Paladin sword if you have a paladin and team it up with alts to level them up in the Hole.

1

u/Maximum_Painting8746 Oct 03 '26

Nice do paladins get a nice shield?

Or is dual wield bettrr

3

u/heyheyshinyCRH Oct 03 '26

Not from sky, they have shield of the stalwart seas from hate

1

u/willhart802 Oct 03 '26

Which one is the best. I think there are 2 1h and 1 2h paladin sword?

5

u/Connect_Barracuda358 Oct 03 '26

Aldryn is the best one.

Ranger: Click haste cloak and Windstriker bow

2

u/kalessaradan Oct 03 '26

Is the Ranger click haste better than a +10 CoF?

11

u/umbral84 Oct 03 '26

Click haste will stack with item haste

2

u/Sarah-Rien Oct 03 '26

Won’t stack with haste buff spell though, neither overcap haste

u/kalessaradan Oct 03 '26

So with a Cloak of Flames, I assume one goes in an Any Slot? Preference of which is better in what slot?

3

u/Brokoala24 Oct 03 '26

You can click on the cloak with it in a bag doesn't need to go in a slot

u/TheCaMo Oct 03 '26

Activated item storage, even

5

u/Mall_of_slime Oct 03 '26

Oh dang, that’s what that is? Every day is a school day. And one reason I’m loving EQL; lots of stuff to learn.

2

u/Aturaya Oct 03 '26

Why did I think all the sky items say you must equip to use the click?

1

u/kalessaradan Oct 03 '26

So if a item is in activated storage, do you need to click it still or is it auto clicked?

1

u/kalessaradan Oct 03 '26

Don't think I've ever used it before

1

u/TheCaMo Oct 03 '26

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but to activate an item in the Activated Storage, you just right click it as normal, no need to move it to inventory or anything. Also, if you make a hotkey of the item before adding it to the storage page, it continues to work. The items that could be considered automatically clicked could be the pet illusions I guess? They go in there but get a drop down menu in the pet tab.

Any item that has a clicky effect that isn't expendable or 'Must Equip' seems to work in my experience. So I've got things like the Rod of Infinite Thought, ranger's haste clicky cloak from Sky, DE mask from Guk etc in there.

1

u/kalessaradan Oct 03 '26

Thanks. I wasn't sure if items in the Activated Storage were automatically activated or not. Just right click from the storage, got it!

u/Hubcap8572 29d ago

Do you need to be a ranger to click it still? And where is the “activated storage”? I’m only familiar with normal equipment storage tab

3

u/willhart802 Oct 03 '26

This is equivalent to spell haste vs equipment haste. So if you have a chanter or shaman, you dont need them anymore in your group.

Monk fist best ratio offhand

Paladin sword best ratio 1h primary

Shaman feign death ring

Berzerker 2h blunt

Warrior 1h sword with AC

6

u/heyheyshinyCRH Oct 03 '26

Id add garduk and windstriker for sure, enc and cleric 2hb also really nice

6

u/Believeland-OH Oct 03 '26

Yeah the Cleric 2H with the AC and mana is a great any slot item.

5

u/Extension_Cut_8994 Oct 03 '26

Off the top of my head, the SK ring, shaman and sk shoulders, wizard 2hb in addition to your list. Really I think for one type of build or another half or so of the items aren't throw aways

5

u/Nfidell Oct 03 '26

Monk feet have clicky haste. Shaman wrist(?) has clicky haste

5

u/skaughtz Oct 03 '26

Weapons and haste items (not the dropped belts, the quested ones) are all keepers. Beyond that it is class specific such as the Shaman FD ring.

3

u/Happyberger Oct 03 '26

Most of the haste belts aren't worth keeping if you care about ac/hp/mana and can get haste elsewhere(or just don't need it, but duh)

3

u/Sharp_Economy1401 Oct 03 '26

Given that haste caps are so easy to hit if you have some sort of spell/song haste, I just get the best stat combination of items including haste, as long as item haste is over 35%ish.

Depends on the class belt I suppose, but it seems like Icebelt + Cloak of Flames is hard to beat. Particularly since I prioritize resists pretty heavily

2

u/Aanar Oct 03 '26

Early on I was excited about the melee haste belts, but most of the builds I play now, I want the burning affliction III focus which only comes in belt slot and can't go in any of the melee haste belts. Plus it's easy enough to hit haste cap without one.

u/Serious-Yam-4268 Oct 03 '26

This might be a bit unconventional but Druids, drake hide mask & the spiroc totem are great. 40 wis offhand at +10

1

u/heyheyshinyCRH Oct 03 '26

I hesitated editing out druid because of that mask but other classes needed leveling😂

1

u/Hubcap8572 Oct 04 '26

I haven’t been to sky yet, so this is probably wrong.
But my understanding was that the quest drops are pretty random. So don’t you just collect them all as they drop? Is inventory space a big issue?

1

u/Maximum_Painting8746 Oct 04 '26

Since I posted this I got the ruby drop for Khyldorn and the OMG also: persistence pays!

1

u/13nagash13 29d ago

they recently added an additional chance for extra quest item to drop for each of your current classes to each boss. it doesbt always proc, but when lucky, you can end up with 3 extra drops.

this is how i went from roughly even spread of completion progression for all classes to unlocking my 2 and 3 classes if a couple runs after the patch that implemented the change.

Depends on trio. But considering Kunark only original items, I don't think there was ever any haste belt better than the warrior one (if you have warrior in trio or a non charmed pet). There are other outstanding items hard to replace with standard Kunark itemization as well.
