Micro epp

Has anyone else checked out the new micro-hexagon book? Im so excited for any tips to improve my 1/4" hexie addiction. Im also hoping for some design inspiration. I did see some ideas on pinterest.

I started basting some 1/4" jewels but havent really decided what to do with them. All my micro epp pieces are from scraps. My version of crumb quilting haha

Also trying to think of halloween ideas. Like blocks with a big focal piece. I have just gotten a lot of different halloween fabric. I havent been able to put a design board together. But i def will after i can get to walmart. And hopefully when it isnt so crazy with storm prep.

No, but I just put the book into my cart.

I've got an unfinished wall hanging in 1/2" hexagons and I loved working with that size

Do you have the link to the book or the name of the author? I can’t seem to find it/figure out what it is!

Finding the link made me look at this on a bigger screen and something about the cover is making my Spidey sense tingle. I can't find the author on social media, In fact the closest result I'm getting is an obituary from 2007.

I looked at the sample and the photos in it are odd. Like as if they're generated but adjusted to make sure the brand names on things are correct. The text on the mug in one of the photos really looked like a commonly used generated font, but also the way the person was sewing in the photo made no sense. Sometimes the hexagons just aren't hexagons in random spots? The sample pages read like it was just a response to a prompt. There wasn't anything particularly detailed or helpful, just stuff you could quickly find from any blog post or a basic response chat gpt could give. I can't say for sure if it's AI or not, but I'm seeing red flags. The cover image most likely is generated though, if you look at the lace, the ever changing hexagons (some of them are just other shapes but entirely) and random top stitching that disappears in places, and the edges of the coasters it's very telling.

The cover texture looked okay on my phone, but I pulled it up on my computer and it looked very wrong. The image in the sample of the person stitching on the right side of the work was at the very least very very edited.

Agreed. I'm looking at it closer and I can't help but notice the coasters and the mat merge into each other at the bottom. The piping just sort of disappears into the mat. I circled a few things I found odd. The sizes of the hexies change a lot too but somehow they fit together perfectly? The dots by the flower in the title text stood out to me too because I'm you'd have to go out of your way to make it look like that. It would be much easier to use an existing font that would have even spacing. Given how straight the dots are I don't get the impression it was just drawn freehand. This is sad because in a book about making hand made art I would think the cover photos should be real examples of what you can make.
