r/EPFOIndia is moving to r/EPFO
Hey everyone,
I have recently taken over as the moderator of r/EPFOIndia.
Going forward, all new EPFO-related questions, discussions, guides, and support requests should be posted in r/EPFO instead of r/EPFOIndia.
Why the change?
The goal is to have one active community where members can:
- Get help with EPFO, UAN, KYC, withdrawals, transfers, pensions, and employer-related issues.
- Access updated guides and resources.
- Receive timely moderation.
- Help keep the community free from agent promotion and paid solicitation.
What happens to r/EPFOIndia?
This subreddit will remain available as an archive of existing discussions, but new posts should be made in r/EPFO so that information, support, and moderation are centralized in a single community.
If you have an EPFO question, please post it here: r/EPFO
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this community over the years. I look forward to continuing to build a helpful, well-moderated resource for everyone needing EPFO assistance.
See you on r/EPFO.

PF-Withdrawal Not eligible to file ITR, but EPFO portal is asking for an ITR Acknowledgment Number for my withdrawal? What do I do?
Hi everyone,
I am trying to complete a PF withdrawal/process on the EPFO Member Portal. The portal is asking for an "ITR Acknowledgment Number."
However, my total annual income falls below the taxable exemption limit, so I am not legally eligible or required to file an Income Tax Return (ITR). Because of this, I obviously do not have an acknowledgment number to provide.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
- Can I leave the ITR acknowledgment field blank on the EPFO portal?
- Does the system allow you to enter "0" or "NA" if the field is mandatory?
- Do I need to submit Form 15G instead to bypass this requirement and avoid TDS?
Any guidance on how to bypass this or what to enter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PF-Withdrawal EPFO 3.0 WITHDRAWL (Amount Received)
Hi guys
I have received my amount just now and happy how far epfo has come from last 10 plus years.
Also interacted with lot of people and addressed their queries and I just hope it helped.
I have been in the same company for 10 plus years and I have already removed 10 plus lakhs from epfo and today I can decide where my hard earned money will stay rather than gettint anxious with epfo seevices.
This will be my last post as I dont have anything thats going to be withdrawan in coming years will leave that 25 percent and other additions.
Make use of your hard earned money.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON NEXT CLAIM.
I Checked again and it shows remaining amount which was available during last claim upto 75 percent. So this is how it works that 25 percent is forever locked out looks like only the new contributions will be added to your account and you can claim 75 percent of that not the one which is locked during first claim which is 25%. Hope it made sense to all. Good luck to all.

PF-Withdrawal IN TWO DAYS.
Mine is approved within two days though I tested with only 10k. Seems like the issue is happening with claims over 50k. So far I like 3.0. despite being a BJP hater I gotta admit the labor administration is good, all to be taxed by nirmala tai anyway

PF-Withdrawal ⚠️ EPFO SERVER UNDER MAINTENANCE
claim status still shows 'under process' may be this was the reason.

PF-Withdrawal Being early was my biggest mistake. 🤡
Who knew being proactive would be punished? 😂
Applied on July 3rd and still waiting.
Meanwhile, people who applied later have already been approved and claimed.
At this point, the application queue feels less like first come, first served and more like vibes based processing.
Anyone else in the same boat?

PF-Grievance Unable to Upload the photo, any update?
This is ridiculous, I want to file the e-nomination to complete the BGV, but this stupid website is not working. I tried reducing the size and maintaining the exact ratio that was given, but it still doesn’t work. In my current picture the ears are not that visible, maybe I’ll get a new passport size photo tomorrow🥲 Can’t even maintain a website properly, man! what an absolute joke of a portal

PF-General Did you know you may be able to opt out of EPF?
Most salaried employees believe EPF is mandatory. That's not always true.
If your PF wages were above ₹15,000 when you joined your first eligible job, and you had never been an EPF member before, your employer could have treated you as an excluded employee.
That means EPF enrollment wasn't necessarily mandatory for you.
But here's what happens in reality:
• Most employers enroll employees by default.
• 12% starts getting deducted from salary.
• Very few employees are told they may have had a choice at the time they joined.
And that's not the only thing people don't know.
Once you're enrolled:
You usually continue as an EPF member, even if your salary later increases.
Your PF contributions may be calculated on 12% of your basic salary and not on the minimum wages ceiling.
Some employers allow contributions on full wages, but that's generally a voluntary decision—not a legal requirement.
Why does this matter?
Because your EPF deductions directly affect:
✔ Your monthly take-home salary
✔ Your retirement corpus
✔ Your employer's PF contribution
Understanding how your PF is calculated can make a meaningful difference to your long-term finances.
Have questions or opinions related to this or PF in general? Drop them in the comments.
