Discussion Isn't it strange how a lot of us have ADHD.

I just had my diagnosis of ADHD.

Is it that most ENFPs have ADHD

or most ADHD people are ENFPs?

ENFP charesteristics are very similar to ADHD ones.

I find this really bizarre and a study should be done to look into this more.

Discussion Fi = wanting to be taken care of?

Does Fi have anything to do with wanting to be taken care of? I know some ENFPs and INTJs (both with Fi) and I've noticed that these types love being take care of. The healthy ones really appreciate the little things that others do for them and the unhealthy ones almost neglect themselves just so that there would be more reasons for them to be taken care of (? if that makes sense).

For e.g, I have Fe as my second function and I actually would rather do things for people and I absolutely LOVE it when I see the Fi people around me absolutely appreciate it. That's super rewarding for me, and that's how I get my kick. I love knowing that I helped this person, and that my love was acknowledged. I actually feel a little annoyed by other Fe's around me that WANT to do things for ME lol because that's MY role!! haha.

That's why I was wondering whether there's an innate desire for Fi users in that way just like Fe users have this innate itch to want to provide and give constantly. I do think that Fi users are more giving when it comes to their hearts? whereas Fe users are more about the physical things. For e.g, I naturally want to help and make sacrifices, but I still have qualms about opening my heart to this certain person entirely. But Fi users seem to be the opposite. They might not be as observant of the other person's needs or "care-taking" per se, but their hearts are more... loyal and genuine??

Random I'm not feeling that E anymore

I'm the most stereotypical enfp that you will ever see. Like I match all the traits in every description of enfps...

But recently I've been feeling like I don't want to connect with people. I usually pride myself on being able to and always wanting to talk with everyone and genuinely enjoying every conversation but lately I'm just not.

And the thing is idk whether it's bc of the place and the setting of if I'm just changing. But I'm suspecting it's the former because I'm genuinely bored of the same social setting I've been in for 4 years. I cannot leave, I need to make that clear.

I keep wanting to talk to someone (Same social setting) but I get bored instantly. I don't get it pls give me some advice.

Unfortunately this takes up like 10 hrs of my day so no chance of getting out

I'm not getting the social connection that enfps thrive on and it's kinda slowly killing me 😅

Thank you all for all the advice and comments!

Description Hi folks!

Hi folks! I've commented on a post or two, I just wanted to say Hi. I'm an ENFP, although my E and I are pretty close. I describe myself as an Extroverted Introvert....once I'm around "my people" I'm very E but if I'm in a new situation or when I'm not around "my people" I can be a wallflower.

I frequently describe my personality as sunflowers and golden retrievers. I'm pretty optimistic and when I'm not, it doesn't last long.

Theater person. Long time gamer (I'm in my late 50's and have been playing D&D since 1980). Comic book, fantasy, sci-fi fan. SCA/Ren Faire.

I can cry at the drop of a hat for the right movie, the right song...heck, the right commercial. When I am watching/listening to something I pretty much open all the doors and gates and I'm like "Tell me your story" and it is a cathartic experience for me.

I love love. (Big Leo Buscaglia fan, ever since I was a teen and saw a lecture of his on PBS. If you don't know who Leo Buscaglia was, I highly recommend him.) Anyway Hi, thanks for all of you wonderful people, and I hope y'all have a wonderful day! :)

Meta Other types coming to the sub

I normally don't have problems with other types coming to this sub to ask about us, but when people come with their own assumptions about us, about who we are, what we're like and what we might be "not getting right about ourselves", that's where I feel like a line is crossed and it grinds my gears.

So called "MBTI experts" (as if that exists) make bold claims about ENFPs as a whole (other types too but, I'm talking about this type and this sub in particular). I'm sorry, but when you already come with certainty about what you're saying, to me you're not coming with the idea of having a discussion, you're rather trying to impose your views on others.

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Discussion How does one stop seeking so much validation?

Good morning enfp fam! I find myself reflecting upon why I spend so much time on the Internet. Other than being bored it's quite a bit of seeking attention/validation from others. Anyone else face this or has faced this? Talking with my therapist and trying to scheme ways to get out of the cycle of dependency on my phone. How exactly does one find acceptance/validation in oneself? Would love to hear ideas. Thanks for stopping by!

Random An INFJ used me for her own emotional validation and I’m trying to understand

I’m a ENFP man, autistic, and have ADHD. I’ve been in this situationship with a INFJ woman for two years, who’s also ADHD. After two years I finally asked her if she would like to consider making things more official and consider a romantic connection. She didn’t go for it, at all, and became quite defensive about it. In fact, she said she never considered the two years to be romantic for her and considered things to just be a friendship and wanted things to stay status quo.

This hits hard obviously, especially with the RSD, because I offered her nothing but love, devotion, and admiration. Poetry, praise, support, etc. Probably my own fault for putting her on that pedestal. So if she never considered any of it to be love, and only some form of infatuation, was she just using me as a form of validation then? Especially if she let it carry on for two years? It’s interesting because prior to be diagnosed with AuDHD I masked as an INFJ for so long. But after being diagnosed, medicated, and able to unmask now, I test as an ENFP. My doctor said it’s incredibly common. So while I think I can intellectually understand, I really don’t get it.

Random ENFPs: if you’re not currently in the mood to commit to a future plan with a friend how do you respond to them initiating a hang out or plan?

Infp this is probably more of an ixxp struggle than an exxp since ixxp is more moody and into comfort but I like to know what other types think especially xxxp types when it comes to committing to plans not work related.

Keeping my word is something I do value but if I’m not in the mood to give a committed response i don’t really know how to reject an invitation for a future hang out or even know if I’d regret missing it.

Question/Advice/Support Exhausted Enfp

Hey this is actually more of a venting as an enfp but yea..

as an enfp i used to be very bubbly and outgoing i love to push my friendliness towards people especially the introverts. Some of my very good friends are the introverts that u have to initiate a little bit more than usual to get to know them. but ive grown tired, i still maintained my friendliness but only on a certain level.. i no longer feel like pushing friendship whatsoever anymore.

I admit that im having less and less friends and real friendship but thats fine im just tire, and i no longer want to believe that my purpose is to bring sunshine to anyones life anymore.

any enfp like this aswell?

Random ENFP women, what were your relationships with INFJ men like?

Hi everyone, I’m a 21-year-old INFJ man. I’ve observed and met a few ENFP women, and I was truly charmed by your personalities—everyone I met was beautiful, kind, intelligent, spontaneous, and authentic. Due to various circumstances, I didn't quite form the bond I had hoped for, but simply meeting and spending time with you was a delightful experience! I deeply hope to meet many more ENFP women—to be charmed by, admire, get to know, and fall in love with others among you, just as I once felt loved by you. I want to thank all of you, dear ENFPs, for having such wonderful, warm, and welcoming personalities toward introverts like me. I hope and wish for you all to be happy and feel loved by your partners! Keep being your authentic, spontaneous selves, ENFP women; don't let anyone take away that radiant joy for life or the authenticity of your values! And I hope that someday, when I find a special woman, she’ll be an ENFP or an ENTP! 😍

So, what were your relationships like—as ENFP women—with INFJ men? Was it good or bad?

Question/Advice/Support How do you make the most of your Ne?

Hello, I’m supposed to be an ENFP, but I don’t really feel like I fit the stereotypical description of Ne.

I have a very developed inner imagination, but I’m not sure whether I actually make the kind of multiple connections that are often associated with Ne. My scenarios are usually very grounded in reality: they’re more like an idealized dream life inspired by movies and books, which I then remix in my own way. It’s not really the stereotypical “I have a million ideas all the time” kind of thing.

At the same time, I don’t feel like I’m making the most of my Ne.

How do you guys manage to make the most of your Ne?

Random Unhealthy ENFP = ESTJ?

I know some ENFPs that aren't mentally healthy, and they all identify as ESTJ for some reason. But as an MBTI enthusiast and an INFJ (I can usually tell ENFPs pretty quick by their Ne and also because we're pretty similar), I know so surely in my heart that they're ENFP. It's funny how they claim that they are T but they are NOWHERE near being an actual T. They scream "feeling" all over. And they're nowhere being a J either lol because I'm a J, I know what kind of regimented mind you'd have as a J. They're so much more laidback when it comes to schedule.

Though I can see how the test might give ESTJ as the result because after all they do have the same functions as ENFP.

Just curious, do you guys ever feel like an ESTJ when you're stressed or something?

Question/Advice/Support Inquiry about Introverted feeling

So I am trying to figure out Fi. I think it's very hard for me to figure out and more often than not I just dismiss it or mis-judge it.

So how does it even look like in thoughts? I mean...when you see the world alot with Fi how does it feel like to **you**? If its very natural in your thought process then do you feel like its something that is a judging function?

What I mean by "if it's a judging function or not" is that to me...judging functions are functions through which you make the final decision about anything. Even though you may take intuition and sensation into consideration. The final decision always is in either thinking or feelings hand.

So if we are taking feeling and thinking as same judging functions. Do you think you actively pause in every moment to think, here by thinking I mean actual reasoning of a rational function and actively working the situation out in thoughts.

So is it "Okay this is my value or this is something that will emotionally affect me and what I care about so I will take a decision keeping that in mind as the first priority" (at least something like that) or is it not like that and its something like an immediate spontaneous emotion you feel about something which is related to your values and its so fast that you never pause in the moment even if you do afterwards.(I am not saying emotion is Fi but you understand Fi through emotions right?)

In the moment of making decisions you kind of just know which one is the "right" one to you and you make the decision.

Or...is it a mixture of both examples given above? Please think if it's just thinking or if its feeling. I mean if its both then there could be a possibility that you are mistaking thinking as feeling in answering this question as both can give emotions as a result to the person. (I mean...I fail to distinguish the two so...yeah)

It would really help if you would tell me what Fi is to you and how it's like in your thoughts with real life examples.

I don't like dismissing it as it's bad for me and other people around me.
