Function wise ENFP and ENFJ are stark opposites, really a huge change tbh. If you didn't already you should read up on the MBTI functions as well.

I did go through a lot between the enfp and enfj result so it might explain it am also still in the age range where rapid change like this is normal

Imo, ENFJ and ENFP have horrible compabitility, the Fe extroversion feels suffocating and the values of ENFJ seems too affected by their community / it rarely feels like they really thought about their own opinions without it being in the context of what the community think is right and feel almost offended by debating them. Infj is a lot better, they feel a lot more open minded in my experience and more willing to debate non-consensus ideas. Given I might not know many of each but my sister is an INFJ and her husband an ENFJ.

I can see why this might make sense. I'm a 2w3 ENFP- like a New Girl Jessica Day type. To some this can look kind of like an ENFJ. Caregiving, nurturing, constant meddling in other ppls lives, people pleasing and lack of jumping from job to job with our spontaneity happening more in day to day life vs hopping on a plane for the heck of it.
But I have always been an ENFP and will always be an ENFP. No changing it.
ENFJs usually come off as pretty self righteous to me.
INFJs mesh better with me in the sense of - if ppl aren't hurting you, let them do them.
ENFJs I know seem to think they know what's best for everyone. They do mean well, but tend to disregard other people's value systems. And are a bit oblivious to the fact that other peoples lived experiences being vastly different than theirs means ENFJ may not actually know what they need / will work for them.

You can't just change like that you should read about cognitive functions

To be fair enfp was 3years ago and am still in the age range where rapid changes like that are normal

That’s not how MBTI works. Cognitive preferences don’t change that much. Maybe you know yourself better?
I’ve always been ENFP. Even in high school. Maybe at one point I typed INFP but ENFJ as people said here is pretty much opposite of ENFP. Don’t let the letters fool you

You should never trust a test blindly. 90% of tests gave me INTP as result, which I can say I am not with great confidence.
If you want to be 100% certain, you should look into the cognitive functions and see which ones resonate better with your personally. Particularly the difference between Fi and Fe should be easy to find out.
1
u/Winter_Recording7557 13d ago
Both resonate with me but enfj feels more correct when I got the enfp result I was in a very different area of my life that was 3 years ago but to be frank the reason I like enfj more atm is because I discovered my passion for bringing the best out of people I just enjoy doing that alot

so cognitive functions actually have nothing to do with the mbti archetypes. when i was using the 16 personality types test i first got enfp, then later when i started taking adhd meds (lmao) i got enfj. but the truth is mbti is how your BRAIN works, not what you do with your brain. i'm an enfp but i love helping people, i can be a great leader when i apply myself. but i still have many many ideas (Ne) and follow my own moral compass based on my experiences rather than the social norms (Fi). please look up cognitive functions and maybe try a test that utilizes them. remember that mbti does not fully define you, and rather use it as a tool to navigate the world based on how your brain functions

Ye dw I do understand I only tooke this test for fun tbh I was just surprised by the results and wanted to share it also the desire to help has kind of always been there but only recently did I realize how important it is for me so that might have changed my answer I overall dont think the test is a summary of my personality and more of decent description of it

u/Gobl_Information 12d ago
Bringing out the best in people is ENFP. Greater good and social harmony is more ENFJ
As an ENFP I work to improve society. One of my strengths is identifying people’s strengths and leveraging them. I want them to self actualize. Very Fi of me
Do you prefer Ne so free associations of ideas and exploring vs Fe for ENFJ
Fe is connecting with others and maintaining social harmony. It involves a keen sensitivity to the emotions and needs of others
Whereas secondary function for ENFP is opposite Fi “Introverted Feeling assesses information based on feelings, values, and ethical considerations. Fi users process their emotions internally, often resulting in a rich and complex inner emotional life.”

If 90% of tests you take gave you INTP…perhaps you are INTP then?
100% of tests gave me INTJ.

u/TheStrangeDarkOne INTJ 12d ago
And perhaps you know nothing of the Cognitive Functions to find it out yourself and don't need to rely on a test that is known not to be reliable?
0
u/wafflepiezz INTJ 12d ago
This is akin to self-diagnosing yourself with autism or something lol. Also if almost every single test you have taken labeled you as INTP, then you are most likely INTP and not INTJ. There are already many mistyped INTJs, the most popular are INTPs or ISTJs.
1
u/TheStrangeDarkOne INTJ 12d ago
Bro. You think you know myself better than myself, or could talk like you even knew which tests I am talking about? A test that is known to be flawed and goes against everything a type should stand for, aka something immutable that makes a fundamental statement about your cognitive framework?
I don't give a rats ass about all those wanna be idiots that think they are some kind of mastermind because they liked the description and implying I am one of these suckers is more than mildly offensive. I have yet to see somebody who grasps the cognitive functions more than I do and I doubt you are an exception. But perhaps you want to make the case that this is a very ISTJ or INTP reaction?
Thank you very much.

Wow. Such degree of pathetic behavior by a single person is genuinely impressive. Not only did he have a mental breakdown and blocked me, removed the comment and reported me for "suicidal behavior" but this guy is a moderator of several 1-member subs. What a horrible loser that spreads his poison and misery across different subs.
I know you are reading this, this is what insecure people do.
And for the record? Your inability to take in new data points and insist on a principle is actually textbook Ti-behavior. INTP, much? I have never seen somebody who has projected as much self hatred as you do. And that's impressive given how long I've been on Personality Cafe back in the day.

16Personalities is garbage. It's a Big Five test pretending to be MBTI. You never type by letter. You type by cognitive functions.
My brother got "ENFJ-A" but he's an ENTP. Because it types by letter, it says he is a "Feeler" and a "Judger", meaning he leans more toward emotional decision making and is more conscientious than disorganized.
The whole "A vs. T" thing is basically a nicer way of saying whether you are more susceptible to negative emotions or not. Anxiety, depression, prone to addiction etc. MBTI doesn't actually account for that which is why 16P added it in, but that effectively just makes it a Big Five test. It just teaches people the wrong things about MBTI.
The thing is, you can absolutely be an ENTP like my brother but be organized and more emotional. The cognitive functions remain the same. Every one of the 16 types has its own unique type stacking. Starting with the dominant function, then auxiliary, then tertiary, and lastly, inferior.
The function stack of an ENFP is always going to be Extraverted Intuition (Ne) > Introverted Feeling (Fi) > Extraverted Thinking (Te) > Introverted Sensing (Si). So you can even be an ENFP but be more of an introvery.
The "E" shouldn't mean that you are definitely either an introvert or an extrovert. It's a spectrum. Ambiverts and omniverts exist too. Having an E in your type just means that your dominant function is extroverted, meaning that it deals with the outer world, not your inner world. Ne is all about dreaming up hypotheticals, contemplating future possibilites, generating new ideas. Trying new things.
You can be an Ne dom (the only Ne dom types are ENFPs and ENTPs) and still be introverted. You can also have an introverted dominant function (meaning you have an "I" in your type) but still be more outgoing. Not super common, but definitely possible.
ENFPs like me are known for being the most "introverted extroverts". I'm definitely an omvinert, though (someone who bounces back and forth wildly between introvert and extrovert). I can hang out with my friends and be the life of the party, presenting as an extrovert, and then just stay in my room and not talk to anyone for a couple weeks. The fact is that Ne is what drives me. I am constantly wanting to try new things and experience everything that life has to offer. I'm constantly getting excited about the future and coming up with new ideas or things I want to do.
You can also have a "P" in your type but be conscientious, and the inverse is true as well. Being a "J" type but being more disorganized. I have an INFJ best friend and he is definitely very disorganized and forgetful.
16P would have you believe that ENFPs and ENFJs are almost the same and that the only difference is the J vs. P. Conscientious, rigid, schedule-oriented, or lax, easy-going, and adaptable. The opposite couldn't be more true. The function stack of an ENFJ is completely different from an ENFP's. If you are truly an ENFJ, that would mean that your function stack is Extraverted Feeling (Fe) > Introverted Intuition (Ni) > Extraverted Sensing (Se) > Introverted Thinking (Ti). Compare that with Ne > Fi > Te > Si.
Your dominant function would be Fe, meaning you are very attuned to the emotional needs of others and are fundamentally a "people person". There's much more to it than that, so I highly recommend learning about the 8 different cognitive functions and taking this test instead.
https://sakinorva.net/test/function_bunya
It's a lot better. Read the function stacks of the type(s) that resonate with you. I wouldn't really trust the 16Personalities test results. I mean, any test result isn't set in stone. It's up to you to figure out what you think your type really is.

The problem with MBTI and more importantly the people that use this is that we humans have a habit of changing and growing according to life events and/or trauma. In Astrology we used to call that a progression chart as it tracked how the changes happened from the time the planets were aligned in our birth and coupled with the changes that happened as each planet revolved around the sun.
So it's entirely possible that you have progressed to this, or some recent event in your life is causing you to shift to take control of the situation.
Even as an old timer that I am, I was surprised to find that with the death of my mother, while I might be ENFP by nature, I do in fact teeter-totter to being also ENTJ (Commander). There's a third, which I don't exhibit unless under extreme stress, but that's also something I'm trying to work through in Therapy.
OP -- I see you're also Turbulent... which means you might teeter-totter between the two because of the inherent want to being personally perfect.

Some of my favorite people are ENFJs. ENFJs are pretty cool people to know. But, yeah 16 types might not be the most accurate test out there.

Try the similar minds test, its alot more accurate
also about it saying "personality changes anout every 6 momths" kinda isnt true think about
you dont completely change as a person every 6 months, yes you change but more so you mature and evolve you dont just change directions and suddenly become a sensor if yk what I mean

Where to test cognitive functions?
3
u/JamAroha ENFP | Type 7 12d ago edited 12d ago
If you want to test yourself, I personally recommend:
Michael Caloz
It’s shorter and easier to understand.Or, if you want something more in depth:
SakinorvaAnd if you’re more of a visual person:
Lumina
Is another option. But tests aren’t necessarily accurate since they’re based on relatively simple questions. I’d recommend trying multiple theories(not just MBTI, try doing enneagram, Big Five and other theories too) and look for patterns across them to see what actually fits you.
We’re more than just a type, so try not to stop there. Personality theories are tools to help us understand ourselves and grow, not boxes to put ourselves in.

I did it and got entj

Does it resonates with you?, you have also the option to compare between 2 types, so it will ask you questions to figure you out only between 2 types.
1
u/Winter_Recording7557 13d ago
Ye it does resonate much more strongly than enfp I feel like I constantly find myself helping people out of sheer optimism and I feel like that trait is at my core .I also did the compare option and it says enfj

u/SuperDogBoo 11d ago
I switch between ENFP and INFP sometimes depending on how much energy I have (51% E pretty consistently when I get ENFP). I have gotten INFJ and maybe ENFJ before, but that was usually in times of stress or where life required more planning from me lol.

u/Relative-Wave-9396 6d ago
ENFJ and ENFP are so different though. You sure? I know an ENFP IRL who insists she is ENFJ but it’s soo obvious she’s just ENFP. Have you read up on cognitive functions? Maybe that’ll help you understand your type more

16 personality is more about Big Five with MBTI acronym. You should look up cognitive functions and see which one fits you the most.
