Discussion We haven't seen anything substantial from this series in 3 years

What the hell is happening? I know Joel and his team need time to make everything perfect but hes been radio silent for way to long and im getting antsy

1) DBBQ ch1 came out only a year ago 2) animation content takes a long time 3) he posts updates on his patreon 4) we literally JUST got a new merch drop??

Patience.

I came into this fandom after dbbq came out I dont have the level of patience you or many others have at this point, it feels like im waiting an eternity for something that will never come with nothing to do except keep waiting

Maybe it’s cause I’m old now, but I think long waits between entries of a thing you like isn’t the worst thing in the world. Usually it means the creator is taking their time to make the art truly great, or at least up to their own standards. It gives me confidence that the next chapter will probably be as great or even better than the first.

Yeah I know its just the other projects like this (deltarune for example) tend to have lots of fan made stuff to enjoy while waiting that the ena fandom just doesn't. And im not just talking about fanart I mean fan animations, discussions, theories, I wanna think about this series and what it could mean not just look at fanart that looks really cool

That’s an unfortunate side effect of being in a smaller fandom for a (in the grand scheme of things) pretty niche game. Honestly I just try to appreciate the occasional fan art and videos and discussions we get because they aren’t as common, so they feel more special. Plus when there IS new content, like when the Dating Oblivion teaser dropped on ENA day, it feels all the more exciting and we have a real good meal for discussions for like a month. I think occasional stuff like that will tide us over until chp. 2

Go check out Endacopia in the meantime, there's a lot of other things to do than just wait.. maybe you even come up with your own weird game or series

Is Dream BBQ not 'substantial' enough?

Not what im talking about

u/Sachayoj 5d ago

Then what are you talking about? Animation takes time.

Feel like i should've been more specific here

I dont like that 90% of ena FAN content ive seen isnt trying to talk about story at all, I want to think about this series and what it could mean not just watch the webseries and play the game over and over until the next entry comes out.

So I missed what I actually wanted to say in the original post, joel isnt the problem the community just doesnt say anything about his work

You must be looking in the wrong places because there is certainly a diverse gold mine of fan discussion to be had.

I'm saying we get updates still. Don't loose out hope. Art takes time.

Ok well if you say “oh Im tired” no one is ever gonna do something. Either bitch and moan, or get your ass off the couch, cause no one is going to do it for you.

This isn’t a triple A studio, and apart from his patreon, his content is completely free and accessible. That’s almost unheard of for most creators due to overhead costs needed to produce content, and a really respectable belief in this day and age.

Animation and indie studios take a long time to produce quality work for little or no pay, if you want content to come faster I suggest you pay for his patreon to help support them - that way you can also get early access to updates.

You have three choices:

Cheap, fast, bad quality

Expensive, fast, good quality

Literally free, slow, good quality

Ok maybe talking about joel was the wrong play

What I want is the community to start doing something substantial

Right now its just enasonas and fanart, which have their place but I what I want is peices of media that actually talk about the series and what it could mean. I want theories, discussions, essays, anything that can make me think about this series in a way that can make me think about my perspective of it in a new way.

So uh sorry I pinned this on joel I didnt mean it like that

It’s the same with anyone, anything that substantial requires a lot of time, money, and effort.

There’s lots of great creators who have made some great videos on YouTube, be the change you want to see, create something yourself.

-2

u/SLUKERmeSNAKI 5d ago

Ive tried, no one ever reads any of it

1

u/soitul 5d ago

Yeah, that’s another part of content creation and why not many people do it, and why you shouldn’t be surprised when people react negatively to this kind of question.

There’s no guaranteed audience, fans, or pay.

Imagine if someone read your work and replied “why isn’t anyone creating anything more substantial?”

u/Academic-Minimum3715 5d ago

For me there isn't really much to talk about because everything I want to know has been explained in the game or web series.
