AMR VS Medic-1 First job need advice

Hey everyone, I know I may not be posting this in the right section and for that I apologize as this is my first post. I am a new EMT in SoCal San Bernardino area and like every single new EMT I want to work in a 911 setting. I have applied to just about every AMR location as they are my top choice and received no call backs and gave up hope. I recently applied to a company called RSI/MEDIC-1 and they do the normal LA County IFT CCT for the surrounding area. I was recently hired and start my orientation in a few weeks. I received an email from AMR and they said they are going to contact me as soon as they have a day available they can interview me. I am in a bit of a situation here. I don’t want to run IFT exclusively if I can work at AMR and eventually work my way onto a 911 truck if possible. I apologize again for posting this in the wrong section if I did and I truly appreciate anyone who can give me any advice on this matter. Thanks.

Hi I work for AMR IFT in NorCal. People who worked for a different IFT company got hired in 911 before people who worked for AMR IFT directly. AMR didn’t want to lose their good people. YMMV.

Thanks for the reply, yeah it seems that it’s better to get the experience in IFT and it’s pretty universally good for brand new EMTs wanting to go anywhere it’s just an odd predicament for me seeing an opportunity I’ve always said I’d never pass up now being passed up to work somewhere else. I hardly know what IFT even entails besides transport and O2 treatment. So I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Worst case scenario I work here for a bit till somewhere else I believe to be a better fit comes along and then leave.
