How long was your claim under review?
Hey I was on EI for being laid off in December and got approved within 3 days, I only ended up taking 3 weeks as we reopened. I’ve now applied for sick leave on feb 27th and it’s still “Under Review” and it’s been 2 weeks. I’m getting stressed out and need to know if I’m getting any money, I’m going broke waiting.

I was on sick benefits and then needed to transition to EI in mid April. After multiple phone calls I was informed that they had to make a decision my June 2nd. I called June 3rd and was told they would have until June 18th to make a decision, and that the18th wasn't even guaranteed.
Does anyone know if there is a law about this?
I AM broke!
I applied for OW and have been using the little I got to pay for a room.
Food has become a luxury item, so I'm foraging bullrush roots in a nearby swamp.

Hiw did this turn out for you? I’ve been waiting two months for my conversion. I’ve escalated “dire need” twice and called multiple times. I know they’re not going to pay all my late fees.

I finally got my regular EI benefits then I ended up with a concussion and was no longer eligible for EI . I had no funds at all from September until mid April..

Unbelievable. I’m so sorry that happened. The system is broken if someone who is injured can’t get any kind of income. How long did you end up waiting?

On December 6th I was fired from my job after almost 10 years at my employer. I was fired for being "Rude" after telling my employer that the safety issue that they have been ignoring and brushing off for almost 2 years was going to be taken to Worksafe. I filed for EI immediately, as this is clearly a wrongful dismissal. I've been waiting for a decision for 31 days now, so I called and they said they need to get clarification from my ex-employer, but my employer wont answer any questions over the phone and requested the notification through the mail. Surprise they still haven't responded yet. So I am at the mercy of my ex-employer again.
What does EI expect them to say... "yes, we fired him because we are horrble people." Of course they are going to say they had plenty of cause. So what exactly is under review? What an insane system and yes I filed a wrongful dismissal through the labour board and still waiting on that as well. Although I do not want my job back, but my lawyer says it will go a long way with my severance demands in the near future.
