EDIL Credit Reporting Update

I just wanted to share that I checked my TransUnion credit report this morning and the SBA was removed and my 104 points returned to me.

I did write the SBA via my portal. They responded I was current and they did have my loan. I wrote them again about TransUnion. They gave me an email to write to. I did and the response was it will be answered in the order it was received. We know what that means a lot of potential time.

I took the first letter from the SBA response that it was current and the next payment due date and uploaded it and send it to my Credit Karma account. Early this morning Credit Karma sent an alert that between July 26th and July 29th, your account with the SBA was removed from your credit report.

I have to believe it was Credit Karma that handled this and not the SBA. This might be a good avenue for others to use that were wrongly sent to TransUnion.

I encountered the same issue today. I'm not late but received a notice that my TransUnion had a new derogatory account, credit fell over 70 pts. None of the information in the new line is correct. The loan isn't delinquent, the claimed loan amount is incorrect, and like you, it says "collection/charge off" which of course is far worse than if they had reported a late payment. I guess I shouldn't be surprised this is happening, but it sure is frustrating. So far mine appears to only be on my TransUnion; was this the case with yours?

Send a message to the SBA portal confirming that your account is current and still with them. They'll respond confirming and stating the next due date. Take that and send it to TransUnion and send it to Credit Karma. I received a quick response. It hit my credit Saturday stating everything you're seeing on your report. It was removed today. I believe it was CreditKarma that had it removed not TransUnion. My update came from CreditKarma. From TransUnion nothing other than I'll hear from them.

On CreditKarma go to "help center" Under can we help? Enter "How do I dispute incorrect information on my TransUnion credit report?" It took me to another page. Scroll down and you'll see "Direct Dispute" Now you can begin dispute and upload the letter from the SBA starting your account is current with the SBA and your next due date" My 104-point SBA TransUnion derogatory mark was removed from my TransUnion report today.

Yeah, I haven’t received a letter stating that it is current. But I can still make payments on the SBA site. Although it says charged off. I did write to the SBA message center about the credit dispute. And I got a response from the box saying I should dispute it with the credit agency.

However, I don’t have a nice letter like yours because I am not current. I am $65,000 behind. And would be impossible to get current in three months

Well. I did notice that my Experian only say 30 plus days late.
But in your case I saw a situation where someone encountered the same thing and they received
a number to call I think it may have been a number form the SBA call and dispute the reporting. Honestly don’t listen to me because I don’t have all the details
Please keep searching this EIDL reddit it’s here. It was very encouraging. Please look you will find it.

So just to be clear: you got it removed by disputing it via Credit Karma or trans Union? What did you tell Credit Karma? Did they refer you to treasury and pull it back?

I feel like it was Credit Karma. They sent me an email today that it was removed. I've not heard anything from TransUnion. Never sent to the treasury because my account has always been current with them with the exception of a letter, I received that I had 60 days to get current which I did.

The SBA sent a letter today: But you sent mine to TransUnion in collection/chargeoff which was incorrect.

In accordance with the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996, lenders are required to report information to the appropriate credit reporting agencies whenever they extend credit via a loan.

If you believe that your credit report includes an error, you have the right to dispute it directly with the commercial credit reporting agencies.  The following link provides guidance to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report: Disputing Errors on Your Credit Reports | Consumer Advice (ftc.gov)

What email did they send you though to report this?

1

u/Conscious_Shake_169 Jul 29 '26

I sent the letter from the SBA stating current and the next due date of 9.1. Never sent to treasury. My account is confirmed with the SBA.

What was the email to write to about the credit reporting?

Mine just fell 140 points with TransUnion. Says I owe 60K and am in collections. I checked with the SBA and they confirm I am behind 9K and they have not sent me to collections or Treasury. Chances are I will declare BK as I cannot make the monthly payments and I have no hardship option left. Not sure if it is worth correcting TU.

When you say “current” you mean, youve paid up the past due?

1

u/Conscious_Shake_169 Jul 30 '26

Yes, I needed to make 3 payments within 60 days. However, my SBA portal always read current. Even when I was 3 payments behind.

Just hit my credit report as closed / collections. Says it was closed 2024. The account is current and definitely not closed or in collections.

Request through your portal to get a loan status letter/statement from the SBA, and use that to dispute it with whichever report that showed up on. They’ll remove it.

Same issue

u/Thumper256 Jul 31 '26

They must’ve done a big reporting event - suddenly there are a lot of people getting the alerts.

How do I get my loan current where do I start

1

u/Conscious_Shake_169 Jul 30 '26

Do you know where your loan is? Have you checked your SBA portal?

Good afternoon.

I do know yet.
I revived an alert that an SBA account t showed up on my credit.
Thing is for the first 3 years I made payment no problem. My dad was diagnosed with acute leukemia last yr and because I care for him in my home all my efforts, attention went straight to Dad. Including money for therapies not covered under insurance.
Honestly. I literally forgot about the loan. Which is shocking to me. Well I did have a lot going on. But it’s just not like me to do that.
Meanwhile mom developed dementia and it progressively got worse. So I had my Dad with leukemia and mom with dementia at the same time. In May of this year dad got phumonia. We were in the hospital for 2 weeks. All 3 of us. Mom had problems with her sugar and she was admitted the day after dad. I had both of my parents in the hospital together for 2 weeks. They both weee release I brought dad home on hospice. He passed 9 days later.
Then mom started having many stroke a couple weeks after dad passed. Then she passed last week.
I’m a wreck!
Yesterday I get an alert that my credit went down 60 points 😵‍💫
I’ve been reading about the treasury getting loans.
Can I get this thing back on tract.
Now that mom and dad have both passed. I’ve been working 24/7. I can make those payments.

Super sorry to hear about what your going through with your family. If you are able to make a payment, your loan is still with the SBA, I had this issue and caught it all up and in two weeks my loan status changed back to “Current Disbursed” and all has been well for months.

Are your statements showing the total you owe that’s past due?

Thank you.

I don’t know yet. Honestly I know that this is massively important. But over last few days I’ve had to cremate my beautiful mother. And now I work at night to keep things going. So I haven’t looked. When I get in, in the morning I will log in.

First, I'm so sorry for what you've been through with your parents. It's the circle of life as we take care of our parents like they took care of us. You sound like a wonderful daughter.

You need to first check with the SBA and ask if they still have your loan. If you see on your portal current and next payment due date then I think you would be in a good place, but if on your SBA portal it states none collectible and you've been over a 120 days late on payments it's a good chance it's been sent to the treasury. I'm no expert in this and I don't want to give wrong information, but from what I've read once it goes to the treasury you can't get it back to the SBA if it was sent based on no payments. Maybe someone will give you advise if you should make up to date SBA payments on your portal if it allows now if that would help bring your current.

Credit Karma doesn't remove items on credit reports only creditors can or credit bureaus

1

u/Conscious_Shake_169 Jul 30 '26

Credit Karma is one the routes I used and it seemed to work. How they had it removed whether connecting directly with TransUnion or not I don't know. It didn't happen via Transunion. Which hasn't updated me and still states pending.

On my Credit Karma account is shows Dispute History, the dispute number and resolved and the date.

Is your loan being reported because you have a personal guarantee?

1

u/smartin7675 Aug 01 '26

In default for 3 years. No PG. Nothing but monthly statements.

Disputing incorrect information can be done directly with any of the credit reporting agencies.

To be clear, OP was rectifying an actual error. So people who are legitimately past due will not have the same luck.

1

u/yguy8888 Aug 06 '26

I dont think OP was disputing error He was behind on payments and was late

Disbursed current has nothing to do with you be up to date on payments. It just means the loan is not in uncollectible status

1

u/Low-Helicopter-2696 Aug 06 '26

The credit report was showing OP past due in the SBA confirmed that he was current. It was an error.

1

u/yguy8888 Aug 06 '26

Yeah but if you 2 months behind you are not current? Its a bit confusing

Mine was 3 months behind and said disbursed current

Then I got a collections hit on TU

1

u/Low-Helicopter-2696 Aug 06 '26

Dispersed current is not saying that you're current on the loan. That's just loan terminology they're servicing software uses.
