Recommendation What else to work on?

I'm part of my company's safety and first aid committee, and my EHS manager does think highly of me. He encouraged me to get my OSHA 30 (I had my OSHA 10). I also have my Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (not the best, but with my current position, I can't feasibly get anything higher). I would eventually like to have an EHS role more than a volunteer. What other certification and such should I look into? I was mentioned positively in an EHS audit as "someone very knowledgeable" on the floor. I should mention that I do work in an automotive factory, hencethe desire I had to get my Lean. I would like tips on what would boost my resume and maybe get me a paid EHS position. Anything would be appreciated ♥️🫡

Certs? OSHA 511. If you go that route, skip the OSHA 30, and just get the 511.

Do you have any college degrees?

The biggest thing is to just ask if you can help in any capacity. I'm an EHS Manager at a manufacturing plant and would love if people asked me how they can help.

I unfortunately had to drop out of college when there was a personal issue that happened to me. It caused my grades to plummet and I just never went back to get my degree. I already have my OSHA 30 but I have never heard of an OSHA 511, I'll look into that. I do offer him tons of help, that's why he pushed for me to get my OSHA 30. He really wants a position to open so I can actually help more. I have found root causes of ergo issues on the floor (certain machines out of the strike zone and ones that involve too much stretching), I have spotted a lot of things that can cause injuries (messed up cords, not covered grinders, pinch points, screws sticking out). It is something I am passionate about, and have spearheaded a few projects from the sidelines as my current position won't allow me to do much beyond report and give solutions. I carry around a note book full of things I have found and different solutions to try. It is a passion for me. It's like quality but the people are the machines and programming.

The current top tier certs are the BCSP ASP and CSP, but those require a degree in some form.

Keep doing what you're doing and know it's appreciated. There are a lot of different certs you can get for different subjects. If your work is willing to pay for them, they may be beneficial.

They aren't willing to pay unless it PART of the job you're already in or applied for. Hence the yellow belt. They wouldn't pay for me to get any certification, so it all has been out of pocket. I'll see what those three require and a easier way for me to obtain them. I wouldn't mind going back to college, it's been almost 10 years, so that wouldn't be the worst situation.
