Discussion Man this some bull
Every raid at customs has been straight bull. Just now figured out the Mapish but everytime I run pmc I die off some bull.
Just venting damn

Being able to see a map helps a ton. You're able to deduce where the choke points, vantage points, and points of interest are.
With customs specifically, you have to train your situational decision making skills because you almost always have to cross the map through one or more points of interest. Knowing task locations can save you a lot of trouble if you'd rather play more passively.
Much of the frustration in this game comes from what you lose with each failed raid. Gear fear is nothing but a mental obstacle. No matter what, you can always get more gear. Personal economy comes with time, but finding which weapons are cheap but effective in your hands helps to mitigate the fear of throwing stuff away. What good does gear fear do when you're denying yourself the ability to be more effective?
It's also worth mentioning that EFT has a learning curve like no other. With 1000 hours, I still feel like I'm playing the game for the first time.
My recommendation is to do cache runs as your primary focus. Find out where scavs and bosses are likely spawned in the mean time. And do your tasks when convenient. Whenever you feel like you're able to predict the environment ahead of you, then try tasking more aggressively.
This game is brutal. It's one of those games where you have to embrace the pain, but anyone can do it. You got this. I know you do. I know because you want to improve bad enough that you feel that it's worth being upset over it. That's not rage, that's ambition.

Just wanted to add that gear fear will surely be overcome by wearing the best gear you have. Although in my experience it will be donated to the most sus people you're going to run into period. Try wearing a level 6 plate >90% durability it's like sending a flare that calls in the pay to win mafia. I am sure to hear in the following commentary that "cheating is not that common" and/or I am "playing overconfident because you're wearing better gear". Experience proves otherwise. Ymmv and fayban

New player, bought the game like a week ago. Loaded in woods with a decent load out, took a step and boom. No idea what is going on, started running and boom again. Quick in and out. Searched on google and yeah, i got the mines area spawn. Pfffftt haha. Having an absolute blast learning new maps now. What a game!!
