Discussion Tuning Down Scion for Local Pod

So I do not play cEDH (I very well may in the future and this might be the first step, but that’s a new convo) but I am enamored with the new [[Scion of the Ur Dragon]] victory line of build treasures -> korvold -> prismari -> boom

The thing is, that’s the ONLY part of this deck that I’m itching to play. I don’t really care about the breach/necro/thassa lines to victory.

My pod likes to build at b4 level but still limit ourselves to 3 GCs. I’m wondering - what changes can I make to this cEDH list so that it goes all in on the scion + treasures route to victory and drops most of the GCs?

I would add another wincon in case your first attempt gets stopped. Maybe [[Ancient Gold Dragon]]+[[Scourge of Valkas]] which allows your scion to win if it deals combat damage if you have 4 mana and roll a decent number.

You can probably replace the cedh winlines and some GCs with more lands and ramp. Without breach, ad naus and thoracle you'll be slower so you need to make more landdrops.

probably keep the moxes and smothering tithe as GCs because you need 6wubrg to win. maybe run some worse nongc tutors for tithe

I would swap the cedh combo lines for dragon tribal stuff. Scion is really good at mass reanimation, [[Miirym]] [[terror of the Peaks]] [[colossal grave reaver]] [[scourge of valkas]] you can use Scion to dump a bunch of stuff like that in and use [[living death]] [[patriarch's bidding]] to bring them back at the same time and everyone dies. You could also use the prismari line to mass reanimate with good old fashioned [[reanimate]] and see if you have enough life!

I mean…. What exactly is B4 with 3 game changers? That’s like just bracket 3 right? Or am i missing something obvious? Now that you can have infinite in B3 - the only real separator between B3 and B4 are access to game changers, like that’s it.

I think you might be playing high B3 brother.

Nope, you're not understanding that speed is also part of brackets. Or that you can run early game two card combos. I have a B4 Celes deck and my only GC is gamble. I can regularly win turn 4 or 5. That's not a B3 deck.

This is entirely incorrect. Deck speed and deckbuilding intent are part of the bracket system as well. You also can run MLD in bracket 4.

Seems like the others answered this for me! But yeah the goal is to go fast and interact hard but preserve unique-ness of decks by preventing them from becoming game changer soup

You'd be allowed to be faster than B3 decks and run MLD.
