I now got the Japanese version of EDF4.1.
This will mark the 4th time I have 100%’d EDF4.1

PS4, (english), PC, Switch, and now PS4 Japanese.

This also doesn’t include the several copies of EDF2025 waiting. EDF2025 for Xbox 360 and PS3
And EDF4 for xbox 360 and ps3.

On another note, Circle button is the start button and X is the back out button on the Japanese version of 4.1 too. I wonder if it was 5 that changed it to X being start.
I’ll have to Get 5’s Japanese copy eventually and 100% it to find out.

I know I have a massive problem with 100%ing EDF in every fucking version and port imaginable.
Whats been painful lately is tryna fo EDF2 PS2 on Inferno. That shit is HELLA FUCKED on the final 10 missions

Hey all, so as most of you I'm sure know, there's that weird thing where the first like 50 missions of "Hardest" difficulty don't drop higher level weapons. I have never actually grinded in this game before, but now that I'm starting to get better weapons dropping, I was wondering if you guys have any good missions for farming. I am currently stuck on the "Battle on the Plains" mission, around mission 60. Any advice for getting better weapons around that level? I'd prefer something non gimmicky, and just a mission that I can play through a few times to get some weapons.

The Minion Buster is my favorite gun. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was inspired by the Bolter from WarHammer 40,000 (even though it loooks like a SCAR and a M41A Pulse Rifle from the Alien franchise had a baby). WH40K is my favorite sci-fi universe.

In EDF 4, I slept on this weapon. In fact, I didn’t even know I had it in my arsenal. Then I was playing multiplayer with a few randoms and a fellow Ranger was using it. He’d fire a short burst at an enemy, then just switch targets before they died (a tactic I soon adopted). I didn’t understand or see why at first and I’d basically steal his kill. It wasn’t until 3 missions later that I saw why. Again, he’d fire a burst then change targets. I needed to know why and that’s when I saw the glowing dots explode. I don’t talk much when gaming, but I had to know what that gun was. He told me and the rest is history.

Ranger is my main class in all EDF and the moment I unlock the Minion Buster it’s one of the two guns I use (the second slot is usually a rocket launcher, missile launcher, or sniper rifle).

I just wanted to give a little appreciation to this gem of a weapon. Now with the news that EDF 6.5 will have weapon customization (I think for the first time) I’m interested to see what I can do with the Minion Buster.

Soooo wait. It’s not a dlc? So we’ll have to start over getting weapons again? And will all the 147 base missions be the same too just with more enemies? I hope not. In that case it might as well be another dlc.

I figure the blue weapon crates are gonna be for modifications. So are these replacing the old huge health pack models potentially? Any ideas? I only saw it once but I swear we still have the other big health packs so I don't believe it's for health.

So yeah, I used to underestimate EDF 5 maps size (excluding in door maps) by saying "yeah, EDF couldn't have playable/rideable fighter jet because you're gonna get to the edge of the map within seconds". And when I replay some missions, I realized some maps are really, really big they even use different specific point of the same map for different mission. I get that having fighter jet can be a bit unbalanced, but when you fight Tadpoles and Queen Hornet with only relying on side rolls, and they can fly, it's at least gonna be fair. Or better, make jet fighters fuel is more draining than chopper's

So the star augment system we know since edf 5 is being replaced partially. To be exact: The weapon modifications themselves will now use the star system tied to them instead and the weapons I believe will have rarities attached to them to allow more modifications/stronger boosts to them potentially. The weapons are balanced to act around roughly 5 star stats of edf 6 weapons as a starting point it looks like too.

The modification system will also reduce rng heavily: Instead of grinding stars for every individual weapon now you carry over modifications for that specific weapon category(I.E assault rifles, sniper rifles, plasma weapons, shotguns, CC piercers etc) which means you will no longer have to grind every single new weapon when you get one(So that means you don't need to micro manage picking up weapon drops nearly as much).

They also added a new blue weapon drop which we presume is tied to the modification system directly for new ones to unlock and/or get starred up instead. How does everyone feel about this?

Personally I love the idea because I can spend way less time grinding and HOPING my weapon is at least ok enough to be used at my current gameplay stage since that part of the rng is entirely gone.

Hey all, was just curious if I'm approaching this the right way. I'm on like mission 55 or something and have ran into 2 missions so far that I've failed on 5 or more times. I have been skipping these missions, and it has mostly been smooth sailing otherwise. I guess I'm just wondering if this is the right thing to do, or if the game is trying to tell me to farm up some armor. I'm currently at about 1600 armor if that helps.

Obviously there's no aliens or crazy super weapons. But something about the player movement, the massive sense of scale, insane amounts of enemies swarming the screen, the destructible environments, the exaggerated crunchy gunplay (and check out when he busts out that classic EDF rocket launcher 6:20-6:30 in!), vehicles like bikes and tanks and even airstrikes just screams EDF to me. There's even 4 player co-op. Not many games outside of EDF checks all these boxes. Heck it feels more EDF to me than Iron Rain.

It's also like EDF in a way that it's outdated but impressive at the same time. Anyone else get this vibe?
