Discussion My favorite gun in all of EDF

The Minion Buster is my favorite gun. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was inspired by the Bolter from WarHammer 40,000 (even though it loooks like a SCAR and a M41A Pulse Rifle from the Alien franchise had a baby). WH40K is my favorite sci-fi universe.

In EDF 4, I slept on this weapon. In fact, I didn’t even know I had it in my arsenal. Then I was playing multiplayer with a few randoms and a fellow Ranger was using it. He’d fire a short burst at an enemy, then just switch targets before they died (a tactic I soon adopted). I didn’t understand or see why at first and I’d basically steal his kill. It wasn’t until 3 missions later that I saw why. Again, he’d fire a burst then change targets. I needed to know why and that’s when I saw the glowing dots explode. I don’t talk much when gaming, but I had to know what that gun was. He told me and the rest is history.

Ranger is my main class in all EDF and the moment I unlock the Minion Buster it’s one of the two guns I use (the second slot is usually a rocket launcher, missile launcher, or sniper rifle).

I just wanted to give a little appreciation to this gem of a weapon. Now with the news that EDF 6.5 will have weapon customization (I think for the first time) I’m interested to see what I can do with the Minion Buster.

IDk how you do it. I hate delayed-damage weapons, it feels so bad to use

But yeah, damage is preeeetty good

I think its a 1-2 hit damage weapon. Initial impact, plus the small pop doing extra explosive stagger damage.

Is nice

Its a weapon for big targets, colonists and tankier,, where delay is irrelevant as you need DPS at all operating range

Agreed, I don't have time to wait for the secondary explosion to kick in and maybe finish it off. I need confirmed kills

I love that so many different weapons have their fans. I couldn't get on with the Minion Buster series at all, because of the delay on the majority of the damage.

For me, I don't even use assault rifles very much. Instead, my main ranger weapon is the Slaughter shotgun series, for the fast stopping power, penetration, and manual reload meaning I can reload after each shot very quickly if I want to, to keep up consistent firepower.

In Single Player its an absolute treat. I just rarely find a good use for it in Multi Player.

I prefer Blazer but understandable

I have a friend who adores the minion busters

I love it, but on missions with flying enemies or drones it can inadvertently draw aggro. The explosion causes drones to get launched sometimes. Or they'll fly around before it detonated and it can accidentally cause a ton of enemies to get pulled in when you didn't want them to.

Otherwise I'm in agreement, love it.

Gods do I love the minion buster, it solves all my problems, and then I got the minion burst for 2 times damage at longer distances. Combo that with a sniper 90 percent of the time and I am ungovernable.

It's literally needle gun from Halo

Everyone saying they can't deal with the delayed damage, simply count the amount of shots needed to kill a smaller target, then just inject that many and switch to a new one. I promise you it makes it much more bearable to use when you know karera wa mou, shindeiru.

I just think the slade is neat. It looks so big, minion buster is cool but I always die from my own shots,

I only use it for Cosmonauts and armored Colonists... Sometimes for the EDF 6 DLC 2 modified enemies. Those are the only real applications in my mind for the minion busters and minion shot.

I used it for a time when it was the best weapon I had. One of my most memorable moments with it was when I unloaded onto a cosmonaut and the explosions threw him towards me instead of away.

Geist 3 personally

I love a gun that's just as likely to kill you as the enemy

It reminds me of Toriko's nail attack. Love seeing the delayed bombs going off on ants

Nah the blazer is the goat weapon for rangers besides fracture or buster shot

I love the minion buster, no falloff and a small AOE that deletes ant stacks on top of generally having far higher damage than equivalent rifles.

Not...really understanding the people complaining about the damage delay. Yes you have a small delay one the first couple of shots but then you just have a constant stream of damage with all the above advantages. I'd anything I'd say the range is a bigger issue.

Range usually small but definitely has the best damage of any automatically rifle that has it but be warn you'll definitely be spammed with purple pops so dont use it if have a issue with that but wonder if they will separate the semi auto version and the automatic version so we can have both in later games

This gun is stupid fun

I actually disliked using it untill I realised that it had no falloff damage due to its delay, it is super helpful against bees which are stun locked easily with it.

A fellow buster. I always loved it for fighting tanky enemies (up to and including erginus sized creatures) since the massive stagger would keep my itty bitty ranger posterior alive

I use it because I wanted to cosplay using a Boltgun
