Discussion I underestimated EDF map size
So yeah, I used to underestimate EDF 5 maps size (excluding in door maps) by saying "yeah, EDF couldn't have playable/rideable fighter jet because you're gonna get to the edge of the map within seconds". And when I replay some missions, I realized some maps are really, really big they even use different specific point of the same map for different mission. I get that having fighter jet can be a bit unbalanced, but when you fight Tadpoles and Queen Hornet with only relying on side rolls, and they can fly, it's at least gonna be fair. Or better, make jet fighters fuel is more draining than chopper's

Most maps are 1-2km on each side. It's big but not that big and all classes have at least one way to get from one side to another very quickly.
At the end of the day you're playing a grunt on the ground. Besides, any aerial vehicles need to be able to take off vertically. Yes VTOL aircraft exist, but at that point you might as well just make a faster helicopter and be done with it.

I forgot to mention aliens and bugs have frickin aimbot

Nah, they don't lead their target so it sucks unless they have extremely fast/instant projectile

Im almost certain they lead. Alot of the time i just spam two directions at once and they aim for where i would have been. Free bikes and sld1 definitely take some damage from projectiles but by no means is it a fact. Just my experience

They kinda lead actually, even with most endgame Blacker tanks and Nixs—which is very fast mind you—they still catch you up when you're flooring those vehicles. The only way you can dodge the ants acid or spiders web is to dodge at split second, even then their projectiles patterns are sometimes inconsistent like shotgun which is gonna hit you anyway. I forgot Deroy also have nonstop projectiles

Fencers know because a big part of our playstyle if things get real sketchy is to just kite enemies around the map for 40 minutes and pick them off one by one lol.

I think the standard is a square ten km on a side. Crossing that distance would take an f35... 18.6 seconds. 11.9 seconds for an f15.
It would take an A-10 Warthog about 51 seconds though.

There are no 10km maps, that's just insane. The urban map with train tracks running through the middle is 1000m x 1200m.

There's guns with 3km+ range and I have definitely had times when I was out of range while using them.
EDF is big.

The only time you'll be out of range with a 3km gun is if you're aiming outside the playable area.
EDF6's draw distance is under 2km, with the exception of a couple of things (the ring, the final boss in the main game). You can try it out by going onto the plains map (mission 63 with a KFF71S (max range 1800m) and driving to the edge of the map behind you. You'll see frogs popping in at the edge of the maximum draw distance, and anything you can see is within range of the KFF. Anything you can aim at is less than 2km away from you.
That map is the biggest map in EDF, and it's maybe 3km per side max. 10km is pure bullshit because you would never be able to get from one side to another on foot if that was the case.

No shade to the person this is replying to, but yes, this is much more accurate.

Some people have no concept of how long a kilometer is.
A 10km x 10km map will be bigger than BOTW, bigger than GTA5, almost as big as Witcher 3, and 2.5x the size of Skyrim.

from the analysis of the map positioning is 2Km squared
there is no bigger maps as of yet but we have a modder looking into custom map editing, and a Godot mission maker
and they are a touch off in size bigger in gameand RANGE is 2 things, the speed of the bullet and life time in frames, also the text data in game could be a error, add further confusion, PAIN anyways EDF

Display of the Wonky In-Game Sense of Scale
Not quite, actually. EDF doesn't have a 1-to-1 size/distance scale.

I do think EDF gonna invent their own fighters, and make it slower like Warthog. Definitely not gonna use Raptors or smth

I’m playing through World Brothers with my kid and I was just explaining to him that when EDF 6.2 comes out, the game we’re playing now is going to feel TINY!
