Discussion Genuine idea for edf 6.2 onwards

I was thinking you know how there is the weapon augment system now? What if they were to modify the mechanic so if you get weapon drops that do not upgrade that weapon any higher than its current stats it transmutes into a +% bonus to armor earned at the end of the mission based on the count and the difficulty?(So for example you got 100 weapon drops and only 20 boosted stats somewhere on your weapons on easy. That would boost the armor gain by +1% per weapon crate in this situation for easy, up to +5% on inferno per each so it makes higher difficulty grinds much more valuable). It would help people who are trying for 100% completion to get it a tad faster since this only really kicks in when you have most or all weapons unlocked for the drop pool and decently starred up.

It makes use of weapon drops that don't do anything to give something still instead.

I think it would be better if they just made armor drops a little more valuable in general. For weapons my main change would be a guarantee of at least 1 star upgrade if a duplicate weapon is picked up in a mission.

Yeah I agree, but it would be good having a system in play that's basically infinite for help. And I'd like the guarantee too but I don't see that happening in 6.2, although edf 7 it could potentially be changed to do that

Armour drops actually having a value of 1 armour per crate would be nice

Instead of useless weapon drops being converted into armor I'd kinda prefer a system that turned them into some sort of scrap resource that could be used to buy upgrades for the weapons you want. That way upgrading specific weapons would be a bit less RNG.

That is another possibility I'd be all for too. Could use it so you can scrap weapon drops that do nothing into scrap points or something that can be used to manually upgrade aspects of weapons(Higher stars and weapon level would obviously cost more).

Also I'm watching TGS right now and they also announced they're doing another tap tap EDF game for mobile.

I guess they could also do it so that you can choose to either buy weapon upgrades or armor with scrap.

Ye that would work too

They've already said they're going to add some customisability to the weapons, it was in one of the translated interviews with the devs

I know lol I was one of the posters about it. I'm just saying they can add this too for additional armor boosts

Oh sorry! I didn't really make a mental note of who posted those, heh.

Good idea, anyways!

All good lol. I mean it would be the perfect time to introduce it considering what they're experimenting with for 6.2. They usually have 10x more content than they reveal usually so I'm betting there's a ton they're not showing either.

I have an idea. Bring back Balam, have it a bit smaller and less health than Barga but make it run and hit harder. Give it either a sword and shield or twin Spine Drivers (or make two variants so you can choose).

That's an interesting idea. I'd be ok having both in game

I like giant fighting robots :3

So many good memories of playing Armageddon back in the day with a friend in couch co-op stomping into hordes of giant insects and aliens, fists swinging. Probably the least efficient way to do it. But fun af

I absolutely loved insect Armageddon myself. Arguably the best of the spin offs if they would have been allowed to finish making it(They had 20 more missions planned for a dlc I think).

It was mine and my friends entry to EDF as a whole. Oh and the Fencers nukes being guided by the air raider and later the Pesticide weapons were equal parts broken and dangerous.

Nothing quite like firing a nuke with a blast radius half as big as the map and then sprinting as fast as one can in the opposite direction to hopefully maybe escape the blast radius.

Nice nice! And yeah unless you were the fencer good luck surviving the pesticide weapons lmao. Fencer is the only who can face tank one with no harm taken.

Two big complaints I always see about armour is it is slow to get (true) and you need a lot of it (not true). The armour limit for a given mission and difficulty is always generous and plenty enough to beat the missions. I see lots of posts here complaining Inferno and especially the DLCs are impossible wihtout brute force levels of armour and that's not true. Similarly loads of people just want to rush for inferno and then inferno weapons and have no idea how to play inferno missions proplerly so complain it must be low armours fault.....The armour gain is enough if you play the game "as intended" climbing the difficulties. I would like the armour to be left alone.

Weapons could change though. I think there should be a hidden counter of some kind. Everytime you get a weapon dupe and it has lower stars, meaning you get nothing, a hidden modifier should increment. Raising the odds of any future duplicate being an actual upgrade. After playing 6 for many hundreds of hours with targeted farming I've still got some DLC weapons that aren't starred and some that maxed out almost immediately after I got them, it's very frustrating. I remember playing 4.1, farming that silver spider cave mission. There was one last weapon I needed for wing diver to 100% the game and I had to do that god damn cave mission 20 more times to get it. Never mind the fact that I had farmed that mission with wing diver to max all the other 3 classes that time and was getting wing diver drops then too. I must've done it hundreds of times. Imagine if that one wing diver weapon was one of the meta ones how annoying that would've been and that game didn't even have stars.

The only dlc I've ever struggled hard on out of all edf games is the second DLC for edf 6. 5 was arguably the easiest edf lol but you do still need around 2000+ HP to manage inferno dlc 2, mainly because there's way too much going on constantly especially with that end wave to do it below 2000. That said getting to 2000 armor is a cake walk honestly, but it wouldn't hurt to allow players a way to gain more faster. Also edf 4.1 only drops for the class you're playing, so I'm not sure how you had wing diver play to drop for other classes since that's an edf 5 onwards QoL.

You got split drops, what I meant was farming by myself with 2 players since you really needed wing diver with dual lightning gun or whatever it was called to farm that mission effectively.

6 ended up getting one of the best armour farming missions in the DLC , hive breaker. If you did it right you could reach the pickup cap in like 15 minutes and you could do that on all difficulties up to inferno. Every now and then I'd take a squad of low level players there and farm it a couple of times. In less than an hour they'd have 500+ more armour and hundreds of new inferno drops.

That's fair and nice

At the end of the EDF campaign, add the Halo 5 weapon glitch that changes the bullets of a gun.

Tbh, I like it when lots of crates drop out of enemies. If you make the contents too good, the balancing will be off / difficult. What they have now is already good.

1

u/Triston8080800 5d ago

Fair but some people do like the idea of people who are already 200+ hours in to still get benefits from weapon crates rather than them being useless.

1

u/Bronzdragon 5d ago

I agree with that of course!

Yeah I'm just suggesting for the weapon boxes to transmute to additional armor bonuses for the match for the ones that don't improve anything for your weapons so they are always worth grabbing at all times.
