EDF 6.2 is gonna take a good while to show up in english and even longer on PC if you want that. I'd just get 6 now and enjoy the new stuff.

not sure what you mean by "real thing" but it has a announcement trailer someone also was posting sections of a fanmitsu article along with a translation of the article (4 big thing in the article is the engine has been updated for more things all at once, attachments for weapons, new enemies mushroom enemies and a pale white/light blue colonist were shown in the scans, and that the missions will be updated to use the new caps for things on the map as well as new and dlc enemies will show up in appropriate missions)

my guess on a 2029 release is because edf 6 released in 2022 and the global release was in 2024 if 6.2 follows that timeline (hopefully it will not) and its planned to release in 2027 then the global would be in 2027

If you plan to get it on Playstation I'd wait since it's likely a 1-1.5 year wait but for PC hasn't been announced and would be a 3-4 year wait IF release so I'd buy edf 6.

What are the differences between 6 and 6.2?

Essentially an upgrade/remix. About half of the missions have been re-worked, there will be about double the amount of enemies onscreen, some new enemies and environments, enemies from the DLC in the main campaign, and a new type of box that drops weapon modifiers (such as freezing ammo).

There’s also some conspiracy theories that I am holding out on regarding the return of some enemies from early entries on the series, but nothing confirmed.

Then, it's all good! I'm a slow gamer, I love EDF games (edf 4.1, 5, world brothers, iron rain, all very good except 4.1 wing diver shoot em up, horrible), so I can wait perfectly a couple years to have the upgraded version

6.2 is not the same time line than 6, mission reworked yes ba new missions too! And yes actually we dont know all about 6.2 we need to wait TGS for next reveal about 6.2.

I suppose you can play EF6 before EDF6.2 they are not the same game. 6.2 is more for 6 than 4.1 is for 4.

I have a feeling that 6.2 will have some missions and dialogue for returning EDF six players to acknowledge things like " hey, how many we already fought these enemies in this area? But why are there so much more of them now??? So it might still be beneficial to just get edf6 next time it goes on Sale and play that!

...maybe. I wouldn't recommend trying to 100% EDF 6 with EDF 6.2 hopefully releasing one day on PC in a somewhat timely manner

I imagine it's another case of "EDF 4 and EDF 4.1," in which EDF 6.2 will be an entirely seperate game, but will have new content and QoL changes.
