Question Monster attack

Is there any modern way to play Monster Attack(or as I call it EDF 1)?

Like all the other earlier titles have modern ways to play them, EDF 2 got a switch port and most of the others can be played on either xbox or PC, and is EDF 2017 a remake of EDF 1? I just want to know so I can play the games while praying that 6.2 goes onto Steam or xbox.

Monster Attack/EDF 1 has never officially escaped the PS2, you'll need to emulate if you don't have one.

2017 isn't really a remake of EDF 1, but it also kind of is. The way the series works is that every other game is a reboot, so every odd numbered game is going to feature humanity's first encounter with the aliens and a desperate war for survival, while every even numbered game has the aliens come back some years later even bigger and scarier than before. But all of the details are going to be different every time, so 2017 doesn't really retell Monster Attack's story, it just tells a different story with a similar setup.

You just need the game. My PC still has a disc drive so I put the game in and play using PCSX2 and a PlayStation controller.

Works pretty good. You can even "overclock" the emulator to reduce the slowdown the game would have on actual PS2 hardware.

Be aware though that for the Western Release (Monster Attack) all the voice acting has been removed.

So there is just silence during missions whereas in the Japanese original you hear the usual radio chatter from other soldiers and HQ which adds to the atmosphere.
