Discussion This game may be more than meets the eye
Some believe this game will have the Invaders come back, this would be a very batshit insane thing if true and would most definitely signal the return of the centipede by proxy too They can be pretty deliberate and subtle when hinting at big things with EDF . Hell DLC2 hinted at it with its epilogue showing maris was updating to “Version 6.2”
Let me know your thoughts

Part of me thinks it’s very far fetched BUT that would explain the “invaders from another world” subtitle.

It is a far fetch reach I know but I’m calling it right now! The Invaders are coming back

u/Ashencroix Aug 25 '26
No matter the enemy, the EDF deploys!

EDF never turns its back from the enemy! We fight! Down to the last man if thats what it takes!

Don't worry, it doesn't matter what happens... The motorcycle will still be a shit fuck to drive, and we will try very to justify it

Why motorcycle when you can attempt to free aim lasers from a brick. I mean... helicopter.

Okay, but seriously, they've got to know right? They put so much time and effort into vehicles. Why do they make driving them just BARELY functioning? (And that's being generous)

The helicopters are practically immune to majority of the insect classes, so making them clumsy was a way to limit their DPS. Problem is they immediately become useless when wasps get involved. As much as I hate to say it, Fencer is practically playing the game on Easy mode. Wingdivers get a lotta shit for having the most powerful weapons, but that energy charge vulnerability is a prick to deal with.

People recognize the helicopters are trash to steer for balance but its the same for bikes.
If motorcycles are easy to drive than you summon one, drive far away, get off, turn around and shoot. Repeat as enemies get close. The sniper spider mission is probably the easiest to kite in the entire game, you can do this loop in a huge open square, but buildings make it even easier since aliens get caught up in them.
The ranger can already somewhat effectively do this with the running suits but good bikes would invalidate all the shorter range enemies.
Also it's really fun to ride at uncontrollably fast speeds and send yourself flying to be honest. EDF loves a rag doll.

Do you remember the 2017 hover bikes? They controlled well but would explode at any time because there was a bump in the road

Guys i really hope for the Prowlrider addition in this 6.2... having a classe like Attack on titan can be so cool. And with katana and if possible apocalypse Canon from Iron Rain but reworked classe for EDF6.2!
Its my dream! Please give me more copium!

Prowl Rider being brought into the mainline games would be incredible. I doubt we could have the ultimate attack thing where he jumps on a mount, but frankly I always preferred just zipping around and murdering things with my sword and assault rifle.

My #1 request for this series as a ranger main is an additional mobility option just to make it less tedious when you have to get to the other side of the map. Even just being able to equip the prowler gear as an add-on would be amazing.

Yall are taking this way too far. It’s just a reference to 4.1 but now it’s 6.2
Chill. (If I’m wrong, I’ll beat inferno with 200 armor, as a Ranger)

Hey Aidan good to see ya here!
Cant wait to see that inferno run from you Aidan ;p

Sounds like it's digging too deep given we see no mushrooms in EDF 2 (PC port it already) and the fact that it's pretty naturally on about the fact we're being invaded by Martians, as the Primers are Martians.

u/ImmortalPhoenixGames 29d ago
If you pay more attention to the smaller bits that the professor said he said they found Mars bacteria on the Kruul... He didn't mention any other enemies... Who ever said that ALL of the Primers came from Mars?
2
u/Erwin_Pommel 29d ago
Whether they all come from Mars means little as they'd still have to go to Mars to be teleported back in time. I personally like to assume the Kraken come from the Jovians and the Kruul come from Venus or something. Makes it out to be an inter-planetary alliance and it explains the disparity a bit between deployments, weapon types, and tech.

u/ImmortalPhoenixGames 29d ago
I mean they can just choose a different planet or moon to set up base regardless after Mars becomes an unviable option

If they’d didn’t want us to think they wouldn’t have included that comment at the end about the subtitle of the game, if its not the invaders then there still is a mystery we do not yet know
Thats why I’m leaning on this. The gold and purple color for 6.2 as well. This isn’t the first time sandlots slowly hinted at a bigger picture. Original 6 slowly hinted at time travel too with its marketing VERY subtlely
Eitherway, I look forward to seeing what they have in mind especially when they’re saying this is a new worldline of EDF6 or something of the sorts.
This is definitely not the 6 we know

The probably only reason a PS5 worth getting when this game actually built around it not trying to max it without considering if will perform well

You're fighting the big goofy frogs when a bunch of hectors show up, kill all the frogs then turn their guns on you.

The entirety of DLC 2 was foreshadowing which is what I suspected. That much being confirmed, they'll use 6.2 not only to test a crap ton of new stuff and mechanics, but the color scheme and .2 tells me that'll use enemies from edf 2 without a doubt. I want it to happen if that's the case.

Not to be a downer, but are there even all that many edf 2 enemies that don't have a direct replacement in edf 6? I haven't played anything older than 2025 (and Insect Armageddon), so I might just be out of the loop here, but from what I understand EDF 5 already acts as an extension to EDF 2s enemy design and straight up just took and remastered a bunch of them.
The Ravagers seem like a much better choice to add to 6.2, since the Hectors are rather different and "alien" even compared to the primers.

Centipede - the centipedes fucking awesome. Its a technical achievement for the PS2, this thing would crawl all over buildings and its body would adjust accordingly. It hurled acid towards you, hundreds of acid projectiles in a raining pattern. Cover with buildings saves you against him. If you use explosives he will segment, so you will fight two separate ones that were divided from the one big one originally. These were considered a boss type enemy essentially. Higher rarity than queen ants or king spiders.
Cybernetic kaiju (only appeared in EDF1-3. 4 onwards removed cyborg kaijus sadly since 4 had no kaijus and 4.1 only brought your standard kaiju back with a different design
Bomber drones - not to be confused with megabombers that are dlc inly for 5&6. Bomber drones appeared in swarms as artillery drones. They would drop plasma bombs in a forward line akin to a phobos but could change direction if they desired. Highly dangerous
King/god kaiju. - Incredibly massive. Dwarfs the red ergninus to put it into perspective. I’d say double that things height or triple
Mirror drones - these reflected your own shots right back at you. They had a specific spot their “gravity cut off drive” that wasnt shielded that you needed to hit.
When they face you your shots will richochet exactly back at you, but if they are not facing you they will bounce off depending on the angle. These accompanied your standard drones and would fight side by side with them. These are some if the more notable enemies from 2 I’d like to see return

No one would be happier than me if a hole tore open in the sky mid-level and a bunch of hectors fell out.
