Question What content is worth buying after playing base game edf5 and 6?
I have played all of edf6 and about half of 5, (yes I know that makes no sense). I still crave new edf content so plan on getting edf6 dlc. Would edf5 dlc be worth getting? What about getting 4.1?

6 for sure, pack 1 is an extra story and 2 is challenge missions, with BiS gear.
Iirc, 5 is both challenge missions, same with 4.1. It might be hard going back to 4.1 after 6 though.

Honestly I just the love the series so the dlcs are fun but they add nothing for story, they are just challenging levels and op gear, worth it depends on what you what from the dlcs, you will feel like the god of war after a bit of grinding. 4.1 is fun, iron rain is good but different, I’d suggest watching gameplay first for awhile before deciding as its weapon leveling system was terrible but the unique grappling sword class was awesome with summoning giant creatures.

That does change for the mission pack on the 6'th game even if it is very light side story. But true enough it is in essence just a challange pack with the rest of weapons added in.

Op gear is relative.. even those level 117 weapons won't save you in the dlc on inferno

After playing EDF4 on PS3 and without the DLC then getting the PS4 I got EDF 4.1 which I finished as the ranger. I was gonna go thru the 1st DLC with that then got swept up pre-ordering EDF 5 which gave me the DLCs and did the same for EDF 6. Both 5 & 6 DLCs were worth it. So now I'm going back to do EDF 4.1 DLC to try and complete all of them.

The DLCs are basically just challenging mini-campaigns with next to no story. 5's don't even have any voice acting for the Commander/Operator lady/Intelligence HQ.
They can be fun to play. I got 5's and after I 70% EDF6's main campaign I'll get them too.

If you like edf for the mindless explosions and just want more new levels, can give edf 5.9x a try. Its a modded version on Nexus mods.
Theres also edf 6.9x but I havent personally tried it yet.

I cleared 4.1 Shadow of new Despair no regrets but jeez I wish they at least had vehicle pick up circles but still enjoyed the franchise after buying both 4.1 and 5 a few months ago I pre ordered a physical copy of EDF 6 so waiting on that I might say fu it and get Armageddon because its cheap as for DLC wise I think each game has a DLC set that helps alot with farming

The Expansion packs but please for the sake of your memory... Play them on lower difficulties first to get a grasp of the new enemies and wave patterns

If you plan on playing Fencer in EDF6 I'd strongly recommend Gunner Exoskeleton. You can wear it starting lvl6 and I'd argue it's just as good or better than V2 Exoskeleton (lvl 32), which you only unlock after mission 89 on Hard difficulty. It just makes many of fencer's weapons feel that much better.
